you know whats funny, people dissing uk hardcore in this thread are mostly not producers.

and cant bring 1 constructive argument about why its bad.

omg rofl suxxors chipmunk vocals, that isnt an argument.
if you listen carefully, you'd hear that no track since 1999 has "chipmunk vocals"

arpegiator on the random, good for you a_x_cell if you can do that, but i have yet to hear an uk hardcore track with that. And i dont, i dont know any producers in any genre that does, maybe, ask yourself a question, if you do your melodies based on random arpegiator, why do you make music in the first place?

before dissing any genre, try and make a tune of this genre, i mean, not a try at making something that could sound relatively close to it. making a real tune of it.

but i forgot, most of you doesnt have any credibility when talking about music.

yes happy hardcore is dead, in fact, i dont like happy hardcore, as in before 2001, but uk hardcore is a complete makeover of it.

so anyone can tell me why they think uk hardcore sucks, i mean, constructive reasons (not personal tastes), with example to back up thier claims?

i bet no, why? caus u guys like to diss it without knowing it.
that could go on with any genre.
I'm feeling fidgety right now..

i know aone, in fact, im replying not because the subject is happy hardcore, but because, once again, people are dissing a gener of music, any genre of music, without even knoing what it really is, its not like if they knew what hardcore is, they dont and they prove it themselves.

i dont personnally dig psytrance, but i dont go and start a thread about how it sucks and how le ghey it his, because, i dont listen to it and wouldnt be able to give any constructive comments on it without listening to it for a few days before.

it applies for every genre of music.
I'm feeling fidgety right now..

You know, that's really the single weakest argument on the planet when it comes to defending a musical genre

"OMG you have no idea what it's like technicaly, you try doing better OMG LOLOLOLOL I'M SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOU BECAUSE I CAN MAKE MUSIC U SUXZZ!"

The people dissing it aren't producers; right, they're the dance floor. They're the people at the parties. They're the people you should be making music for, not the anal-retentive producers that will say "Well your tune is good, but you should add some harmonic to your lead, and you need to put a 200hz scoop on your snare"

"Good tunes" and "Bad tunes" aren't something you can use a VST to fix, it's not something that you can EQ into happening; it's a personal assessment of the music's worth based on what a person likes listening to and doesn't like listening to.

You don't have to know how to paint to think a painting is shit, you don't have to know how to direct movies or do special effects to say a movie is shit, you don't have to know how to manufacture a car to say it's shit, and you don't have to know how to make music of a specific style to say that it's shit.

exactly, i dont care if they dont like it, its not everybody who likes that kind of music, its pretty particular for a style so its not everybody who likes it.

but the question remains, they dont like the style, ok, fine.

but trying to diss the technical aspects of it, without knowing any of it, that i cant stand.

you can say, i dont like this painting, it doesnt reach me.
but you cant say, "he used ficher price paint, omg that sucks"

and thats exactly what is happening right now.

if you read my post, i defend the attacks on the technical aspects (the random arpegiator, for example.)

not thier personal tastes.
Update » Deadfunk wrote on Wed Dec 9, 2009 @ 7:56am
and about them being the dance floor, i dont really understand, why should i make music for someone who doesnt like that genre and doesnt want to attend the "dancefloor" with this music playing??

i do music for people who like that genre, or at least, are open to it.

anyways, this will go on forever, so i wont be replying.

DO IT. Really, you'll see how liberating it is. Hell, I'll even contribute. :)

And some people are taking this waaaay too personal.

If I mentioned what musical styles I listen to as of late, some would be disgusted and laugh at me. And you know what, it's alright. It's not a personal attack on me or dear members of my family or circle of friends, it's insults about something I like, point final.

Besides, what's the point in me retaliating against that ? Is it going to make me stop listening to that musical style ? No. Fuck, if anything, it's going to make me listen to it more. Is it going to stop anyone from producing ? No. Hit Beatport and see if you can't find new releases for said musical style. You're going to find some.

If anything, liking a musical style everyone else dislikes makes it even more of a reason for anyone to adhere to it. Musically, it's always +1000 to be in a small niche of people who like something most everyone else hates instead of being like the tens of thousands out there into dance, trance and psy and shit.

And you say "people dissing uk hardcore in this thread are mostly not producers" to which I reply "the only people fighting for it here ARE producers" which makes sense because you don't want your compositions to be obsolete.

Sure, they might not appeal to the masses but quite frankly, unless you want to be all Star Académie on this shit and be like all those idiots who say "I dream that one day, a label will go to my MySpace page, listen to my tracks and come swooping in with a multimillion dollar deal so I can start remixing for Kanye west and drink champagne for breakfast", keep doing what you do and stop giving a shit about what people think of a musical style people were bashing waaaaaaay before you started liking it.

:)
