Pourquoi ?

* vomits *
I'm feeling "flynn lives" right now..

Dubstep is just musical evolution

When I hear it, I hear hip hop, dub, breakbeat, grime and dnb influences. And there's a lot of innovative stuff being made right now in dubstep which I do find more musically interesting than dnb right now.

Et pour moi le dubstep et le dnb ca fait parti de la meme famille, c'est juste des breakbeats a des vitesses different (dubstep 90 - 100 bpm), (dnb 180 - 200 bpm)

Personally I'm still a sucker for traditionnal breakbeats at 120 - 130 bpm, because its not too slow and not too fast and you can mix it with electro and house

With dubstep you can pretty much just mix hip hop and dancehall, or some dnb if you wanna switch up the bpm (90 bpm mixes perfect with 180 bpm)

Anyhow I just don't see the point of dissing ANY style of music, there's good stuff in any genre
I'm feeling sunshine right now..

140 BPM exactly. I managed to mix out of that into a similar drum line in Ableton and I now already have wobble.

Is it lazy to set up side-chains? I think not. Unless sidechains are sort of a stoner thing.
I'm feeling dorksided! right now..

its funny you say that, cuz 85% of dubstep is made at 140bpm, which is actually faster than electro and most breaks...

which means that mixing hip hop into dubstep cleanly is pretty much impossible, same with dnb since its the same tempo (just double or half timed)

here's an example >>

it starts off with the half timed drums, and by the end, the drums are 4/4, which makes it sound really fast, yet the initial bpm of 140 never changed...
I'm feeling like a sketchbook! right now..

140 bpm?

sound more like 70 bpm at the beginning,

Either way I'd mix this with hip hop or dnb

Like I said its either too fast or too slow to mix with breaks

yeah, it's usually at about 140 bpm.. most tunes are between 135 and 145 bpm...

but, i've heard plenty of tunes ranging from 60 bpm (120 bpm) to 90 bpm (180 bpm)..

it's a rare form of EDM in which, like hardcore, the style is not determined by the tempo ...

dude, you dont have to take my word for it, but im tellin you, dubstep falls into the same mixable bpm as breaks and electro... same as hip hop does to DnB, same thing...

more examples >>>
here's a big dubstep tune, redone by a breaks cat, all he really did was changed the drum pattern

and again >>> [ soundcloud.com ]

I'm just saying generally speaking dubstep and breaks don't really mix, not thats its impossible

I actually have dubstep tracks I mix with breaks or electro,

In this new mix I'm finishing I'm basically going from dubstep/hip hop at the beginning into breaks

Anything is mixable as long as you can get the bpms to match

Dubstep is just NOT exciting..
Could you picture a girl running to the dance floor saying: "omg omg omg! that's my song!!" ?
It's great music, technically interesting but boring for any party or bar night in my opinion
