i need to get out to some more d n b events...haven't heard enough of our locals...from what i've heard lately, aside form those i mentioned already, i also like what Host1 did at Reign in Blood, and i really dig all that the Beat Concierge crew does as well.

hmmmm. that's not really true. these minimi minima biddy b biddy ba MCs are well into the Toronto D&B, believe me. much moreso, in fact.

but there's a lot of Toronto jungle/D&B people who are opposed to that kind of crap, too

there's so many little camps in Toronto doing their thing. some of them are really great.

the Sex in the City night that DS-1 and the Furious crew was running. that was a great night - back in 2003, 2004. they really promoted it to a more mature crowd. lots of ladies and the best DJs playing liquid funk D&B every Saturday. very nice night.

it was run and promoted by people who had good taste and class, so it attracted a good crowd.

if you get a bunch of frat boys promoting a night featuring very aggressive music... then you can expect a very immature aggressive crowd will be there

Toronto scene is complex. you'll see some of the very best and the very worst elements of jungle/D&B - new and old, all mixed in together

anyway

as for local D&B? I don't get out much - but from what I have seen and the sets I've downloaded

Host, Golgo, Generic, Corey K, Sourultrafast, Subtone and Stalker (sick sick sick producers and also great DJs) Plan Cizzle, Bassic, Screwhead - I think they all kill it =)

oh ya and I can't forget Vilify! really enjoyed her set last time at Passeport. lots of energy. I have yet to see Rotor play but I'm gonna catch him tomorrow nite =)

Recoil and Golgo 13 are the best dnb djs in Montreal right now in my books

My number one used to be Sase One, but he's in BC now

hehe. thanks for the daps, but I'm not a D&B DJ. I like it, and I have some great D&B tracks that I bought over the years, but I never spin em.

I spin oldskool Drum & Bass (different from jungle) back from when it started.

totally different kettle o' fish, in terms of production, BPM and vibe

glad you like my DJing though =)

dnb is dnb at the end of the day

who cares when it was made, as long as its good

the oldskool shit is actually my favorite when it comes to dnb,

most of the new shit is too aggro,

its like at some point everyone in england started doing mad blow and making the music all angry,

thats when I stopped listening

along with my homie Golgo, you're still my favorite jungle/dnb dj, whatever you wanna call it,

"not good vibe" music is more or less what they call "drill and bass"

there's nothing wrong with it, just like there's nothing wrong with Metal or Punk
it's just a different release

If anything, I play the equivalent to what you play Hamish...funkier-techier stuff that doesn't necerssarily "bang" the brain, smooth progressive stuff, with hard breaks and funky basslines

I gotta re-do the set I did at the New Year's party.. I swear man, from doing all the mixes in Ableton, with a set of CDJ-1000s I can mix exactly like I do with Ableton (minus the looping/editing/effects)
I'm feeling your norks right now..
