the.neoform, it depends, how old are you?

For the record, none of us were there, so we can pretty much all wash our hands of the past.

Then again, one does wonder how YOU would've acted... :p
I'm feeling re-1up'ed right now..

More like failtonite if you ask me.

I mean, he mentioned himself he can't vote so why even bother posting on this thread where adults who have the right to are having a conversation ?

i dunno,

lets take version's advise (at least half)

here are our options :

- vote charest, the one who's lied at many times to us, who once believed that canada should be Conservative (like Harper, with harper, HE FUCKEN IS HARPER), he's fucken ugly and his commercial's are too cheezy and his ego is bigger than his belly.

- vote for Mario.. well, i did last time around because he was the "change" i was looking for. now, after his period of glory, i've realised that it was a wasted vote and wouldn't really benifit QUEBEC.

- then we have this party, that includes that QUEBEC name in it, that sometimes speak's of seperation (but it would never happen even if they win), there heart's are in quebec and they only want good for quebec people.. yeah, it's a girl who's face is at the front, but that's okay, lets not be sexist now..

- all the other parties would be a vote for the liberals... please take that into consideration when voting.

the choice is clear to me.. you can keep talking about "his team is bigger than there team" or "experience" but i like to look at "who's done what in the past" (not 100 years ago, just 8-10 is far back enough for me) !!!!
I'm feeling indian summer time ! right now..

It never ceases to amaze me when people talk about how our ancestors proudly fought to keep our land and all that in a romanced and glorious kind of way.

What would happen if you were to be told that your ancestors didn't want shitall to do with protecting a huge block of ice across a sea you had a 50-50 chance of making it across alive because, well, they were poor, not very educated and were told that if they did that for their country, huge piles of money would be waiting for them when they got back...even though their countries of origin had no intentions of bringing anyone back from this new land ( " bloody hell no, it's filled with disease-carrying savages and I think we had enough plagues around here for a while " ) ?

Let me confide this to you ( and I'm not fucking around ) : my ancestor from my father's side was drafted in the Carignan Regiment - a very sought after ( and very well remunerated ) military faction posted in Quebec City - and made his way here from the south of France to insure the city's security from invading english troups and served a grand total of 3 fucking weeks until the unit was disbanded, wanted to go back, was laughed at and ended up building a farm and marrying a french girl in the area of Montmorency.

Wow. Not exactly the Quebec freedom fighter anyone expected. But hey, I'm 100 times prouder about him making it into the prestigious Carignan Regiment than singlehandedly slaughtering 45 english soldiers on the battlefield with his BARE HANDS yelling " Crève pour la Patrie ! " to protect this province from an invasion he probably didn't understand to begin with.

It seems most people have a very glorified movie-like version of how it all went down back then. I don't think it was nearly half as bloody and violent as our history books let us to believe.

I mean, what better in a french history book than focusing on the hardships of french-canadian soldiers ?

Hey, the english soldiers were the bad guys for us so I'm sure they were revelling in the lap of luxury, drinking tea with their pinkies in the air and eating lavish foods while the french were eating grubs and potato and dirt.

* rolls eyes *

Dude, with a PLQ government, we have stability, with the PQ, we have every business moving out of Quebec. Montreal used to be the hub of commercial activity in Canada till the PQ came along and fucked everything up. They have zero ability to run a government. They constantly hand out huge subsidies to companies that don't deserve them and they squander money in retarded ways. The PQ is the worst thing that's ever happened to Quebec.

Meh, PQ is garbage IMO, PLQ is the same shit to me, Dumont's got charisma but hes got very conservative ideas. Looks like I'll be voting for someone who wont be elected again... problem is none of the 3 big parties reflect my views so they can all suck it.

But hey "Quebec Gagnant avec Pauline" whoever thought of that slogan needs to lose his job.

When I'd gone to adult ed to try and get my highschool done like, 10 years ago, history was one of the classes I needed to take. On the first day of class, after the teacher spent some time getting to know the students, he told everyone that he had something very important to tell us, that pissed him off very much about our educational system.

He told us to go to a certain page of our history book, and he read us three paragraphs on that page.

Then, he told us that these THREE PARAGRAPHS are the ONLY mention of World War Two in the entirety of the Quebec history books, and that these "smaller" adult-ed books with a lower page-count than the "official" books that are used in highschools, are actually the ones that have the MOST information on WWII.

Barely any mention of hitler, NO mention of the concentration camps, just three paragraphs talking about how we had "hard times" here in quebec with the whole saving/using metal/plastic/war effort in general.

That's really the attitude that a lot have on things like this; how did it affect US? How did WE get shafted? Fuck the rest of the world, we're all-important, we're all that matters.
I'm feeling like shit right now..

For the record here's the truth:

Most anglophones aren't ENGLISH, they speak english but they're not from England

Unless you can show a British passport you're not ENGLISH

Most francophones aren't FRENCH, they speak french but they're not from France

So would you guys all shut about English and French people, like we're living in another century

Its stupid

Merci :)

Wrong, the French and the Algonquin nations where partners in trade and knowledge. Hell they even fought together against the British and the Americans.
The Iroquois, however sided with the British. When Jacques Cartier first touched land in Canada it was the Iroquois chef Donacona that greeted him and his men. But Jacques Cartier fucked everything up. He was looking for the passage to China and when he didnt find it, he decided that he couldn't go back to France empty handed so he kidnapped the chef's sons Domagaya and Teyoani to present to the king. When Jacques Cartier came back to Canada, one of the sons was dead and the other brought back news of a very strange land where the peoples had strange customs, he wasnt impressed.
When the british decided that they wanted Canada they used the bad blood between the French and the Iroquois to there advantage.
In the end, the British won the war, created the FEDERAL reserves for all the first nations.
That genocide you where referring to, well it was the British that where responsible for that in the U.S. and in Canada.
