Doesn't come close to Montreal in terms of selection? NO WAY. Please tell me where you drink in this city that offers more than Belle Gueule, Saint-Urbain, Labatt, Molson, or Unibru because I want to know. And don't take the as a some kind of "I challenge you to a duel!" sort of statement... I just really want to know. ;p

It's hard for me to argue with you, Flo, considering you come from France, but I never found myself complaining about the cost of beer out there, and I've always been gitty in France because the selection. To me, is like a little glimpse of heaven. I mean, have you ever seen a beer in that was brewed with caramel? I certainly hadn't until I left.
I'm feeling cool right now..

Dude, you can microbrew anything, you could make condom flavored beer if you wanted to! It's called enriching, plenty of places do it, go shop around dude ;)

and to answer your question on where to find imported beers, the old port, and have you looked in different SAQ's? Notice I said different, they're all different.

Microbreweries are all over town dude! I think that's what Flo is trying to get at here...
I don't give a fuck, all beer is the same imo. It ranges from dark to light, if you wanna fart raspberries into it good for you do it! I like my beer cold, and tasty. I'm not gonna wax intellectual on the subject...that's stupid, it's just beer. Get drunk, be merry, and try not to get diarrhea from it.

*Gasp* Blasphemy!
I get it. I dunno, it's just that I'm a pretty serious beer enthusiast, and I try (or would like) to try as much as I can. All I'm trying to say is that I'm right and Flo's wrong... lol. jk, I just felt like writing that, =) but seriously, my point is that Quebec sucks ass when it comes to getting international beer, and you can see that just by stepping across the border in any direction, and walking into a "beer store".
I'm feeling cool right now..

Yeh you're totally right about that, maybe Flo hasn't been to one yet ;)
It's like having the Game Genie for your Sega, the product is enhanced ten fold.
I could spend a whole day in a Beer Store just "looking" at shit hahahaha

well Mico I think we're not talking about the same thing :) you're saying that there is more international beer in Paris than in Montreal ; then I agree

I was rather talking about beer on tap, and the general quality of beers : what you get in Montreal's local mico-breweries (sic) is far better than what you get in Paris (I've only found one bar brewing its own beer, which is very good, but it's an English pub). As for getting caramel beer or any other kind of locally brewed and delightfully flavored genuine beer, my heaven is at Dieu du Ciel!, l'Amer à boire, le Cheval Blanc, etc... I mean, that kind of bars :) (you don't find it in Paris, excepted the Enlish pub I mentioned)

Concerning the prices, I've been used to regular French prices, which are 2 or 3 times cheaper than in Paris ; so, to me, Paris is extremely expensive for alcohol, but I found out that Montreal, although it's way cheaper than France in general, is über-expensive too when it comes to alcohol (especially beer and wine), cheese, chocolate, and other delicacies ;) (anyways, it remains somehow cheaper than Paris for beer, in average).

PS : I've been to "beer stores", and I'd trade them anytime for Montreal's bars :) tap >> bottle, bar closing hours >> beer store closing hours
I'm feeling phd powa !!! right now..

It must have the most wonderful aroma. Care to bottle one for me? lol

It dawned on me as well that we were talking about two different things. I'll say that I also agree with you that our Micro-brews are the bomb, and as a matter of fact, I don't think I stepped into a single micro-brewery during any of the time I was there.

Thanks for the tip for those bars. I'll have to check em' out.
I'm feeling cool right now..

Brutopia, what about that 3 Brasseurs place?

I haven't been to brutopia in some time, and the last time I went to 3 Brasseurs on Saint-Cats and Crescent, their amber ale was fucking awful. That's the one thing I don't like about Micro-brews is that it can be really hit or miss.
I'm feeling cool right now..

????

anyone who knows me, knows that I would just as soon have a pint at Dieu du Ciel (my favorite) than kronenbourg on tap in paris. But there is no way that Kronenbourg is even half as shitty as Molson Dry, Ex, whatever. I love beer. I love beer from here.. L'alchemiste, Schoune, Cheval Blanc..etc.

But I love beer from Europe too. I've been twice and fell in love with Pilsner Urquell in Czech Rep before it was available here. I've been to Belgium, Denmark, Germany and drank some of the best beers in the world.

So there's no way that you can sit there and attack my taste in beer. I take offense.
I'm feeling back to the grind right now..

heheh it was an overgeneralization, i think we agree ;) no offense there to be taken by you !

i also agree that i can drink kronenbourg anytime, but you have to pay me to drink molson or labatt shits... i sometimes have a 2-liter bottle of black label 10% but it's just to get drunk, which has nothing to do with appreciating beer.
I'm feeling phd powa !!! right now..
