Coolness: 509655	living creatures are simply the most efficient computing models, our brains are hard coded processors that deal with stimulus on a case by case basis. It'd be like a completely hardward computer, no software at all, just billions of circuits that make up life as a seemingly willful thing.

Coolness: 148280	avez vous vu le reportage sur la facon des fourmis de retrouver leurs chemin? cest assezz hallucinant: il se servent de la position du soleil (qui est en constant changement d<axe) pour retrouver la colonnie. Ca ete prouver par un scientifique qui, dans le desert, cachais la lumiere dune fourmis avec un cossin de bois et, une fois la fourmis dans la penombre devennait folle en tout sens et lorsque le trou se re-ouvrait la fourmis presque AUTOMATIQUEMENT retrouvait la trace exacte de sa maison. Perso, jai halluciner. Et ya lautre reportage sur la cohabition des fourmis et des chenille en amerique du sud, la chenille nourrit les fourmis de son suc naturel et lorsquune araignee arrive (par les vibration differente; la chenille etant sa proie) se met a vibrer et les fourmis sortent de la feuille geant pour aller torcher laraignee...

Mickos, I was under the understanding that ants and other insects of that nature found there ways to and from their colonies through the use of pheromones. That is the only way scouts can inform the colony of their discoveries of food, and why rain is such a threat to these kinds of insects --which is explained in that docu-rama that you were asking about. It's the same thing with hornets. Once a scout finds a bees nest, it will plant a pheromone which all of the other hornets will be attracted to. Perosnally, I find ants to be the most fascinating little bastards on the planet. So, if anyone has some serious documentaries that I could download, post those bitches up.
