Well yeah, I am presuming that could be possible with the 3G version of the iPhone as well. I mean, the OS on it can't be THAT different than the previous version.

As for the Wi-Fi thing, I answer calls like that all fucking day, excuse me if I didn't answer within the next 15 minutes of posting your question. The last thing I want to do on here is overtime. Thank you.

Besides, didn't I offer a link to read ?

Here's what I found in the small prints that nobody ever reads ( but it's still there ) :

The FIDO UNO option at $15 per month includes unlimited local calls made and received when connected to the wireless Internet connection (Wi-Fi).

Canadian,U.S. and international long-distance calls are not included with this option and will be charged as per the current long-distance rates with your Fido service ( now, how the fuck would they know if you're doing a long-distance using Wi-Fi ?. )

Usage of Text, Picture Video (MMS) and Instant Messaging, as well as DATA TRANSMISSION and any other additional services selected is not included and will be billed as per the current rates with your Fido service.

Again, this is hearsay. Will it apply to the iPhone ? The fuck if I know, I don't work there and, trust me, people who do are just about as clueless as me here. All I wanted to say is that, it's a possibility that people need to be aware of. I mean, it's Rogers, right ? Bling bling.

Drop the attitude yo, a.) I was referring to NO comply, whereas yes my question was directed to you...SUre you may answer questions like this all day at work, but fuck man, you are the one that sparked the debate, don't be such a prick when someone asks you to clarify your thoughts on what I thought was a DISCUSSION board.

Your link for Fido UNO specifically mentions wi-fi, but only when you are using it to make VOIP calls from your home. You need to configure your home router to set this up, and I can only assume in order to make VOIP calls using your FIDO UNO number you would require some fido branded software, and that I assume is how they can calculate your calls made using your home wi-fi.

Wireless internet I understand quite well, tyvm, I configured peoples wi-fi 8 hrs a day when I worked at Telus., and I know who wireless works, so my question was ( And I did apologize if I misunderstood) HOw can they charge you for using wi-fi (i.e picking up a wireless signal from ANY router) and charge it as part of your data plan? They can't. You are simply using the browser to surf the internet, but you are NOT using Rogers for this.

Data transmission, which you have so nicely underlined for me is not the same as using the built in browser to connect to a hotspot wirelessly. DATA Transmission would be when you are using the mobile browser outside of a hotspot on the rogers WIRELESS network.

Nothing against you personally Psonyk, but sometimes your attitude on this board sucks balls!

Dude, I apologize if I misunderstood and for my behavior. It's not attitude, it's just tiredness. It's easy to get confused on here when you've had only 3 or so hours of sleep. So again, sorry.

As for Wi-Fi, I came up with the exact same arguments to my friends over there and they said that somehow they can still see the usage regardless of whatever router your handset is picked up on.

Yeah, I fail at understanding how that works too. I'm not so keen on the whole " trust me, they can calculate it " blind faith thing either so we'll just have to see how it all goes down.

they have no right to charge for wifi use whatsoever, wifi is NOT their network.

they don't charge you for wifi on your own network, that would be like a laptop maker charging to use wifi on your computer. Sounds like a bunch of FUD spread by the anti-apple crowd. I've used an unlocked version of the older iphone before and it treats wifi networks the same way a computer does. The whole controversy was about data access rates on the CELL PHONE network, when you aren't near a wireless net connection.
I'm feeling gangsta right now..

Well, we'll see if we can get someone who got his hands on a 3G iPhone with a Fido or Rogers plan to answer that fairly shortly.
