I fail to see how it is funny. I'd make some money if you guys bought my software instead of ripping it.

Yeah, just a thought, but maybe if software didn't cost 500$, and more like 40-50$, people would be a lot more inclined to buy it. As it stands, at 500$, the only people who will ever buy photoshop are those that use it to make a living, whereas if the price were dropped to something more resonable, the casual photoshop users would be a lot more willing to spend money on it.

at 500$, it is a bargain for how powerfull a tool it is.

Why don't you get Gimp instead, its free and probably has every feature someone who doesn't use photoshop at a professional level needs.

Its like ppl ripping microsoft office instead of using open office. If you are not happy to pay, get the free alternative.

ya know, the keygenes and cracks of all the adobe software get out the same day as the beta versions. geez. I wonder wheeeeere they came from.

If it's a bargain at 500$, why is the gimp free? Open Office is free, yet microsoft charge $679 US for their package.

It's a case of paying for a brand name, and not for the content/quality of the package. Of course, everyone sees photoshop and office as the "standards" of the industry, and that's the product they want to look "professional" and because "everyone else has it"

The average computer user knows nothing about open office or the gimp, hell most of them use internet exploder to browse the web and think Norton is the best anti-virus and firewall you could get.

Expecting people not to rip your software would be like leaving 1000$ on a bench, going across the street to get a sandwich and expecting the money to still be there when you get back. Anyone would take it, it doesn't take a bad person.
You just have to accept that most people will take it for free or come up with new and innovative ways of protecting it. A softwafe giant like Macromedia doesn't need or necessarily deserve our money. To show my appreciation I'd rather look up the exact people who worked on the software and send them money directly.

anybody who's ever used both photoshop and the gimp for anything besides resizing pictures and drawing big red circles know that they are not equivalent.

same thing with multipart documents, the kind used for real work in real offices when you compare openoffice and Word. i'll admit that openoffice is slowly getting there however.

blender is a pretty cool 3d app though.

ps. anyone knows something opensource that can replace dreamweaver?
I'm feeling insane right now..

that's not opensource lol.

(setting aside the fact that for some design work, doing everything by hand in html ain't the elegant solution.)
