a little off topic, i know, but i happen to enjoy depressing movies - i;ve recently gone on a little Lars Van Trier trip - Dancer in the Dark is a little sombre and Dogville is depressing/funny (Nicole Kidman chained to a bed for 1/2 the movie)
But i was wondering if anyone has seen a movie called Salo, 120 Days of Sodom? It's apparently the most depressing/disturbing film ever made. I haven't seen it and don't know if i could handle it. I've heard glorious things about lotsa crazy Japanese film like The Audition and such, but i get grossed out way too easily! |

pasolini is awesome!!! i liked salo...that's funny ur talking about that..
because friday at work(i work in a video store..), a old couple came and rented it...first they asked about the documentary "sick"..i tought it was kind of strange but after they asked me for salo!!!. i tought it was very funny..they were looking very "straight" people! i don't think it's the most disturbing but..it's depend of you..u should watch it anyway and make ur own opinion!! it's explore theme like torture and what it's name sexual perversion... it's worth see it for general culture..

yeah you have been lucky.. but i don't know your case in fact...
maybe you were lucky but maybe just typical... often alots of experts observe this phenomene: like in prison, because of some simple techniques, the system who lock u become your salvior... when u arrive in prison or in center, often all your privileges are cut... example: in center, u cannot wear shoes, they take your books, your music, they don't call you by your name but with a number, u cannot watch tv, u have very long transition in your room..ect... and slowly the guys who lock u down, start to give you back theses privileges... they start with your name...your shoes...and now that's the moment were the guys who control you become your allee...your salvior.. it's a basic technic used in prison since decade...it's also used with war prisoner... it's very effident .. but if you consider the dpj as a good thing in our society and that it's helped your life situation, good for u. but for me they'r still full of shit. and i hate them.

you should see it.. some part are "heavy" but i think it's worth it. after all ..every quebecois pay taxe and should know what it's used for..
and plus: this is a very good way to take the pulse of a society when you observe how they treat the weak people who's part of it.
