My godmother is a social worker and she doesn't really like her job. it make her start smoking again and its more than depressing hearing about people's problems all day. She tell's me all kinds of fucked up stores where parents beat there 2 year old children, or about drunk mothers raping there dogs and all kind of nasty fucked up in-humain crap..

i would think twice about this type of job.. but that's just me .. :)
I'm feeling beckers @ rewire 3 right now..

I'm not sure why, but I think I find some empathy and solace in heartbreak. There's somthing about that gut-wrenching tug in my abdomen that makes me feel more human, and ultimatly more compassion. Even if they are fictonal characters, I'm amazed by something that can illict that sort of emotional reaction from me.

Maybe I'm over-analizing this. Just maybe. :D

Some of my friends parents are social workers and they've discouraged me from doing it
What's really stopping me from doing it is my own awareness of my limitations. I know I would become this depressed and miserable person because I know I'd always be taking my work home with me. I know I am not strong enough emotionaly

You are a total ignorant and will always be.

I am an 'ignorant'? Congratulations on using an adjective as a noun genius! Learn to speak properly and maybe make an actual argument next time instead of calling someone you don't know a word that you obviously don't understand. Fuck you.

I'm not going to lie, I've never 'enjoyed' that gut wrenching feeling from watching depressing movies. I don't need horror stories to make me appreciate my life, I know I'm lucky and I know I have to continue to work if I want to succeed and achieve my goals.
I am sorry for saying this, as I am not aiming at anyone, but I can't stand people who are constantly depressed; all they want is to make everyone around them feel just as shitty as they do. Happiness, generally, can only be achieved by gaining control of your own damn mind and somehow getting out of the spiral of depression. It's not easy to do, but life's not easy, life's not fair, deal with it.
Everyone gets depressed now and again and needs a shoulder, I don't mind being that shoulder, in fact I love to help others out. But I know one or two people who are digging their own grave deeper and deeper and deeper and blame everyone but themselves. Survival of the fittest I guess.

Sure, I have a lot to learn, who doesn't? Don't tell me I'm ignorant for wanting to stay positive by surrounding myself with positivity and eliminating the negative aspects of life. It's a choice that everyone makes for themselves.

TK.

"requiem for a dream" and "les voleurs d'enfance" have NOTHING to do with one another. on parle d'UN DOCUMENTAIRE qui dénonce une réalité versus un truc fictif avec une tendance pseudo-trip artistique. urgh.

"but I can't stand people who are constantly depressed; all they want is to make everyone around them feel just as shitty as they do"

Wow. (j'me retiens de dire autre chose, ca pourrait etre sanglant.)
tenez, à place, je copy-paste une chanson de Charles Aznavour.
Ca veut tout dire.

Les enfants de la guerre
by Charles Aznavour

Les enfants de la guerre
Ne sont pas des enfants
Ils ont l'âge de pierre
du fer et du sang
Sur les larmes de mères
Ils ont ouvert les yeux
Par des jours sans mystère
Et sur un monde en feu

Les enfants de la guerre
Ne sont pas des enfants
Ils ont connu la terre
A feu et à sang
Ils ont eu des chimères
Pour aiguiser leur dents
Et pris des cimetières
Pour des jardins d'enfants

Ces enfants de l'orage
Et des jours incertains
Qui avaient le visage
Creusé par la faim
Ont vieilli avant l'âge
Et grandi sans secours
Sans toucher l'héritage
Que doit léguer l'amour

Les enfants de la guerre
Ne sont pas des enfants
Ils ont vu la colère
Étouffer leurs chants
Ont appris à se taire
Et à serrer les poings
Quand les voix mensongères
Leur dictaient leur destin

Les enfants de la guerre
Ne sont pas des enfants
Avec leur mine fière
Et leurs yeux trop grand
Ils ont vu la misère
Recouvrir leurs élans
Et des mains étrangères
Égorger leurs printemps

Ces enfants sans enfance
Sans jeunesse et sans joie
Qui tremblaient sans défense
De peine et de froid
Qui défiaient la souffrance
Et taisaient leurs émois
Mais vivaient d'espérance
Sont comme toi et moi

Des amants de misère
De malheureux amants
Aux amours singulières
Aux rêves changeants
Qui cherchent la lumière
Mais la craignent pourtant
Car
Les amants de la guerre
Sont restés des enfants

*lol* You know, I never got the impressions that you thought there was anything *wrong* with depressing movies, just that you don't enjoy them. He he, and that's totally fair. I have some friends that when they come over and I ask wanna watch a movie they ask "Will I want to commit suicide after it?". I've got the rep for loving the pain.

DrGonzo & Mico------> Hey, it's cool that guy guys agress with me, I thought I was alone in being an emotional sadist. :) Maybe we should exchange movie recommendations!

I kinda adore that unconvential romance of 'Secretary'. Much like I enjoyed 'Benny and June' or 'Harold and Maude'. I have a think for quirky love stories. :D

Some of the most depressing films I've ever seen (If you're looking for some pain):
Abre Los Ojos (Open your eyes)
Amores Perros (Love's Bitch)
We Don't Live Here Anymore
Irreversible
The Squid & The Whale (Not exceptionally depressing, but tragic)
The Sweet Hereafter
and most recently, Labyrintho Del Faune (Pan's Labyrinth)
(to name a few)
I'm feeling sicky-poo and bored right now..
