Dell's alright, but they tend to break.. get a good warrantee with it.

Also, the problem with all computer manufacturers is all the garbage software they come preinstalled with..

I hate iit when computers come with preloaded software or bios modifications which is why you should probably ask them not to even install an operating system and if anything to give you win xp or vista on cd. Most people I know who have Toshiba laptops are pretty pleased with them but you should compare prices before making any decisions cause you'll likely be able to get a better price to hardware ratio with MDG instead of Dell. Even Frosty's [ www.frostyscomputers.com ] might be a good place to start cause I know a few people who've gotten systems (mainly desktops) there. Alternatively there's always Future Shop, Microbytes, and other retailers.

That's only cheaper if you're building a high-end system.

Im still waiting for my claim...Im guessing somewhere between $1500-$1800 since my mac went really down in value.

I really cant build computers for shit. SO maybe a laptop is better for me, I dunno...

well Im not sure, they might...my officer explained to me that they give back whatever the product is worth TODAY. For example, if someone got robbed and paid 1000$ for this video they have back in 1992, and its worth 25$ now, the insurance will give them back 25$. Otherwise they are just giving away money and the person can buy so much more today with 1000$. They are really picky. It sucks but its better than nothing.
She mentioned I can get any kind of computer I want as long as it is of the same value of my mac. From the research I did the powermac G5 is no more worth $1899$ now, because the pro is out. I bought my computer a MONTH before the pro came out - the fuckers at BMAC who sold me the mac didnt bother telling me to just wait it out till the pro comes out. So a month later my mac went 2000$ less in value.
I got fucked but life goes on.
We are also in the process of suing my alarm company. It was not the cops fault -the alarm company never called the cops - lied to my bf told him they did...its a fucked up story..but my home was open all day because of them...anyways
I'm feeling fabulous right now..

That only works for Futureshop warrantees, not insurrance companies.

if you drive a car for 15 years and it's a POS, you're not going to get a new car when it gets stolen.

THAT'S ONLY CHEAPER IF YOU'RE BUILDING A HIGH-END SYSTEM.

How is it only cheaper if you're building a high-end system?? That's ridiculous. For 1800$ if she buys her parts seperately she can definitely build a very high-end system.

Core 2 Duo 2.4 w/4meg cache = 350$
Good Motherboard = 200-300$
1 gig DDR2 800 RAM = 200$ * 2 = 400$
Good video card = 2-400$
Power Supply= 20-50$

let's add, if I take the highest prices, 350+300+400+400+50 = 1500$

with still 300$ left to spare. You can use that to buy a nice LCD and a case and maybe a fan or heat sync.

Oh yeah, I forgot the sound card. + 15-50$.

Are you retarded? That's exactly what i said, it's cheap to build it yourself if you're building a high end system.

Core2 is high end FYI. P4 2.8 is low end, you can get those at radioshack for $450.
I'm feeling anal right now..
