WHOA...

STINKEROO!!!

i'm gunna try to keep the critism constructive since your a new user and all...

but yeah...

don't quit yer day job just yet.

you give me the impression that your pretty new to the dj game and aren't that familiar with the culture, termanology or basic mixing techniques...

genius mentioned the term "train crashing" in reference to his own mixing...

train crashing is a term used when a dj goes "off beat" in a mix by mistake...

its the opposite of "beat matching" which is having 2 tracks playing at the same time on top of each other...

so that all the kicks and snares are aligned so perfectly that 2 tracks appear as one.

this is not the case with the mix you have posted....

which appears to just be a couple songs played "end to end" with all the intros and outros played in full... y'know... kinda like an ipod.

on "club mixes" those intros and outro are acctually there to help you make smooth transitions from one song to another.... they are not meant to be played one after the other.

an example of a very basic mix would would have the first 32 bars of track 2 playing over the last 32 bars of track 1.

anyway... beatmatching is the equivelent to a dj that walking is to a runner...

you have to learn to walk before you can run... and you gotta learn to beatmatch if you wanna dj.

once you get the beatmatching thing down (it usually takes about a year of practice to get it down solid)... check out the music/production forum and look for the thread marked "how to mix better" for more advanced tips and a great pancake recipe.

anyway... hope that helps...

any negitive comments i posted were followed by constructive critism.

he obviously posted cuz he wants promoters to listen to his work...

and as a promoter and a dj... i gave my opinion on what he should be doing and what he shouldn't if he wants to get noticed.

if he's got what it takes and is a devoted musician...

he'll take it for what its worth and hopefully come back with a vengance.

and if he's just your run of the mill sucka dj...

we'll probably never hear from him again.

c'est la vie.

we all worked hard to develop our talent and he should too.

not to mention we've all been called sucka's at one point or another in our careers.

ya gotta break a leg yo!!

I'll be very honest... and write this as I listen to your set because I have nothing to do while drinking my morning coffee besides reading the news.

*First mix lasts a total of 3 seconds.
*Second mix lasts a total of... yo get ready: 6 complete seconds!
*Third one I don't even know what to make outta it... it's a 5 second fade out of a track that's playing kicks into an other track that simply haves weird halloween'ish sound FXs.
*Forth, ear killing (26:36). First time I've heard a house dj scratch/mix live like that. hahaha. Thank god the track you entered has a harsh bassline to make people forget what they've just heard.
*Fifth = 4 second mix fade in/out. Geez I really don't get the point of beatmatching for such small mixes.

I mean... the reason why it's wrong to mix the way you do is due to the fact that you kill all vibe that the original track has to offer to those that are listening to it.

*Sixth = same as mix # three. Total vibe killer.
*Seventh, 3 second mix.
*Eight, no mix at all. The track finishes and second channel just quickly fades in.

Last track of the set is pretty good though.

That being said... if I wanted to listen to offbeat, offcued & fade in/fade out mixes, I'll listen to the radio or fuckin' go to redlite.

Good luck... and keep practicing and don't mind asking for help to those that can literally show you (by that I mean: being with you) basic DJin technics. It won't kill you...

Sofia, aren't you noticing we're living in a society that pampers everyone constantly because it "might hurt their feelings"?!

If I were him, I would do exactly what Murdock said... I'd grab my record bag and start mixing just to prove everyone wrong.

I don't like people censuring themselves because they might think they'll hurt my feelings. If it's constructive criticism, out with it! no?!!

Alot of good DJs don'T beat match that well.
But they'll get away with good overlaying and EQing.
And they'll usualy rely on beatless moments, or just cut into a bad ass uplift/throw down.

Wtv. I can't believe some of you could waste your time on someone who's first post is:
