nahh it's not all in promotion. promotion IS an important part of it but if the party looks just like every other party, with people scared to go crazy because of 'social opinions' or with you know, whatever. we can't just promote and decieve. i think Le D is right on this, we need to dress up, and not just the typical candy thing. i mean... really dress up. and it's to us, the older ravers, to do this, so when the younger ones come in they realize just how crazy and unique this party really is.

when we made enlighten we asked people to dress up as faerie/elves/foret creatures and we got zero participation. why is that? people don't have the time to dress up special for every party they go, that would be too much! though enlighten had this thing special: the deco.

i think parties are a way to artistic expression, and this is the main difference between us and the afterhours, and this is what should attract more people. the colors. the fantasy world. a night where you can be anything you really want to, far far away from social conventions and that kind of crap.

i'll tell you one thing that really attracted me to raves in psytrance was something special written on the flyer: *come to contribute not to consume*. this is the spirit of raves, to me, right beside PLUR. we're not consumers, we're artists, friends, people who party together!

thanks for the nice words gspy, personally i was really upset at myself for that set, some parts were aiight i guess...

mos def nice sets by fu ancko, galaksy and sarcastic was getting down n dangerous but i had to jet, waaaaaaay too tired...

summer is tough to organize parties, i think its cuz ppl are out all day and early nite so by the time its 12 or 1am ppl are getting tired, i was sleepy at 12 even (maybe cuz of watching oilers game #6 b4 or cuz i m an old fart i dunno)
so yah even when iDJ was at its peak, our summer parties (except summer breeze in july) were always lower attendance than usual (december is a tricky mouth too) so yah, we figured we d stop organizing summer jams... outdoor or multi room jams might be the answer , but even then i think ppl wanna be out and about... not stuck in 1 place like winter time

imo the lack of new and original/intimate venues (+ cop busting/fining) also has to do with recent down of "parties"

keep on truckin ravedave! it was just a bump in the road, oh and i noticed your dad getting jiggy, thats pretty cool man i gotta say, respect!

We can all believe in plur and dressing up and everything like that.. but sadly, that's not how money is made, the realistic approach is promotion, and somehow reaching a new crowd...

You're right, but people would stay in the scene if it felt a bit more special. You gotta promote, and you also gotta offer an original product.
