The moment a discussion is no longer based in logic, it stops being scientific/realistic and veers off into "who's more tenacious / emotional about their views" land.

Considering I'm neither tenacious nor emotional about my views, and merely consider them an accurate portrayal of the current issue discussed in this thread, I really couldnt care less for chest-thumping.

I'm pretty sure that people who care enough about the issue will read through all views, do their own research, and come to their own conclusion which my posts were aimed to facilitate in the first place.

On the other hand, people who care more about self-validation via a messageboard than the discussion at hand, are far from my target audience. To those, I sincerely wish to one day find the inner peace, attaining which they seem to try so hard.

Hydrogen is theoretically plausible, and has been "only 5 years away" for the last 2 decades, so I'm not holding my breath.. Mu friend Justin is a Mecahnical engineer with a specialization in chemical engineering in fossil and alternative fuels. He says it's unlikely that major advances will be made with H2, mainly because the gas is explosive (Rocket Fuel) and requires massive energy to bring the gas under the right temp and/or pressure to make it practical and safe.

One great alternative is Magnesium-plated salt-ion bridges. Drop magnesium plates into salt-water and it will generate electricity and produce milk of magnesia as a by-product (you can drink it).

A friend of mine has a company that is designing power packs of different sizes for different purposes. It isn't as efficient as H2 power could be, but it is being practically applied already and has working models.

His company is called Greenvolt and he's got info on the specifics of each power pack they produce, but it gets a little technical.

While I know this isn't the final solution to energy, this guy is jumping far in the right direction!

Atrix, hope your friend comes through with his stuff. He should make a nicer website and attract investors.

It's shaky business though, especially after the [ ] Hydro-Quebec's fuel cell fiasco.

Ah yes! The Quebec fiasco. Alas, what else could one expect from Quebec? It's the home of the worst run government and commercial institutions.

As for the website, no kidding! Engineers know their science, but they suck at design choices and marketing. They're looking for a new web-designer.
