Also, if all florists when on strike on Valentines day, it would cause a bit of a commotion... SAQ was on strike during the holidays... No Booze on Holidays means angry grumpy people.

if the flourists went on stike, you'd see tons of pop-up stands selling flours, vendors from other provinces.. they'd kill all those retarded strikers.

government employees should not be allowed to stike simply because there is NO competition in government.. when the SAQ goes on strike, there isn't anyone else who can pick up the slack.. instead everyone has to simply do without.. which should not happen.

Flowers were just a random example..My point is that people are addicted to alcohol, and addiction is a form of weakness. Don't get me wrong, I love alcohol, but I could live without it. Easily.

Strikes happen because the government and corporations are not doing their social work. Mr.Wal-Mart's wallet is no more important than little Yin-Yung in China. But people think so, or they just don't care.

No.

Strikes happen when workers feel they can get more from their employers. This has no relation to wheather they're making too little or too much.

The MAIN difference in your examples are that government employees KNOW they can't be fired if they go on strike. This differs from private companies like wal-mart cause they'll stop at nothing to make sure unions never get formed. Everyone knows that ALL government employees make decent pay. with the exception of a few fields (Teachers being one).

Postal workers, Public Transit are two examples of OVERPAID workers.

sorry to tell you this, but no one goes to school and gets a degree in bus driving or walking from house to house. Yet somehow these guys managed to wedge themselves into 50k+ salaries.. explain that one to me..

The SAQ is just another example of greedy employees with no discernable skillset.

Is it public workers that are overpaid, or private workers that are underpaid ?

Salaries and education are not related. People know are more educated than they used to, so no one wants to drive a bus every day. The reason with some jobs are highly paid is not because they are jobs that needs skills, it's because they are jobs that NO ONE would do if they weren't highly paid. Skills and salary are not related. Sport professionals and corporation owners are also an example of this. No one would ever drive a bus for 8$/hour, even if driving a bus requires less studying than a lot of things.

Salary has nothing to do with happiness, whatever is the ammount written on your paycheck, it's not a factor. A lot of professionals who gets huge paychecks are totally fucked up on cocaine and burned out. In marketing for example...

And I don't see the link between skills and salary. You get go get some skills because you like it, not for the cash. If you only study to get a big paycheck, and think that money will make you happy...Considering that you will be spending the majority of your time using those skills, you'd better just go with what you like doing. And if you spend the majority of your time doing what you love, the paycheck shouldn't be an issue.
