When my buddy and i moved to Deadmonton, even though we were bilingual, clean cut and hard working, getting a place to live was killer....practically impossible. We went round and round in circles with EVERYBODY....if it was for work, we were asked if we had an apartment, if for apartments we were asked if we had jobs. Even when we got jobs, landlords saw that we had just started working and said to come back in 6 months. The only reason we didn't end up on the street was due a kindly old landlord....if we had been bummy looking, even he wouldn't have helped us out. |
