Sometimes people are fucked-up... And it's freaky when they're in your way...

I wonder what happened to them though, so that they became so strange... :(

I really don't think we should give money to the bums on the street either...if you TRULY want to help them, then give money to a charity that will help them out by either giving them food, a place to sleep, etc.

I dont mind they're there, I think the streets are public to everyone....however I hate it when they follow you/yell at you

this man asked my friend for money..supposedly so he could ride the bus.....she gave him 2 bus tickets, he spit at her and told her to fuck off
cmon we all know what he really wanted that money for!

for the comment about never giving money if they ask while your eating...

the worst...is sitting on patio's...downtown market...enjoying food and drinks...and bums coming along and interrupting you for money...I luv helping these people...but thats just plain rude :P

A few weeks ago I was walking with some friends from foufs (drunk, obviously) and I took out my wallet to give someone change and they grabbed a 5 dollar bill from my wallet and gave me back 2 toonies...

As much as that was funny and I really don't care about 1$ that marked the LAST TIME I EVER give money to any homeless/begging person ( I doubt half of them are homeless)...

The exception of course is kick ass musicians who deserve to have their palms greased for providing good entertainment.

Once I was in France visiting Montmartre(I think)
and some dude asked us if we wanted to take the funicular to go on top of the mountain... We said no, then he started yelling at us...

Weirdings... :b

I always give spare change, anything I can spare. Though after a while of seeing it go to drugs or booze, i started buying them meals.

The homeless in toronto are a lot nicer than here. lol i remember i had one street kid talk to me for about 20 mins when i was ditched by someone, anyways he hugged me and kissed me on the cheek. For being distraught and in a horrible predicament he was in a surprisingly good mood and no he wasn’t high.

a large percentage of the homeless have left because of being violate or abused by their guardians. Another big chunk are just so fucking poor they fall through the cracks of society. Also another big part of people in the streets are schizophrenic... the hospitals won't take them in, so they are left to fend for themselves.

How can you justify, "get a job", when you don't even know these people?

Perhaps if we viewed them as humans, and not background, we could be slightly more empathetic to their situation.

We need better social programs...

We need more drug rehab. More centers to help the homeless get back on their feet with job training. Hospitals need to revamp their structure to aid mentally ill people to get off the streets. Stupid fucking government.

man. ive talked to SO many homeless people with jess because she has this need to talk to every person she sees. a LARGE percentage of the people we spoke with didnt want to be one of the governments "sheep" (more then 5 used this EXACT word).

granted theres the kids who cant kick their drug addiction, who have spent all their money. these people need help.

but a LARGE chunk of these people choose not to work because they do not want to give a percentage of their moeny to the govt, and do not want to partake in a capitalist society.

why should *I* be giving someone the money i worked heard to earn?

do you have any idea how much money a bum makes on the street, in say, one of the weeks before x-mas?

more than what 99% of us make in one day at work.

ya tell that to the guy who wears bags on his feet mumbles to himself about the death of the world and what not. Curse that non-capitalistic bastard for not adhering to our societal norm... a shame he doesn't understand what fucking century he's in.

I've known a few street kids, and one was hooked on heorin, she killed herself. Mainly because the heorin was fucking her up so much and life was just going down. She probably would still be alive today if there was rehab for her. she died at 21. Still think its fair to judge someone when you know a little bit about them now?

hes one of the few cases. we talked to him for about 45 minutes. he tried very hard to get a job - even a factory job, and they wouildnt hire him b/c he is too old (not to mention he isnt all there). i gave him $15 and hoped he wouldnt spend it on booze, but rather a night at the YMCA.

He's definitely one of the few I am not talking about.
