I see your point, but when it comes to peoples safety, this is far from extreme. What would be extreme would be taking down all the personal information of all patrons entering an establishment, or refusing you entry based on your skin colour. The way I perceive the whole ordeal, is that bar and club owners, where it is known that is there gang related activity are trying to gang members out. It was the same thing at Aria. After a man was stabbed, and beaten to death inside the club, you could no longer wear "thug" like clothing and had to have your picture taken. Why? Because it was too much of a risk to allow people who dress that way, or people who are known to be in a gang to be inside. You want to get inside that club? Don't dress that way.If you want to dress that way, don't go to that particular club. And by "that way" I mean: Gang colours, or attire that can be associated with gangs. It really is not that unreasonable.

I mean, all it really is is a dress code. Not some kind of government conspiracy to force you into wearing a uniform.

I agree with you on this. There is an incredible amount of gang violence going on in B.C (according to the news), and I believe these types of measures are justified. I don't necessarily agree with profiling people, but when it comes to crowded bars, removing unsavoury characters just may save the lives of innocent people.

It's not just about preventing a few dope dealers from slinging pot, or coke... It's about protecting the general public from being killed.
