 Coolness: 194235 | Good point.. I will never forget how I got 96 in college English & Composition 1, next best mark being a 70-75 as far as I can remember, me being the only immigrant in the class. Mind you I did *no work* aside from reading a book (a pretty interesting one, 'Blitz') over twice and writing a quiz, midterm and a final essay on it. The final essay was written in 3 hours, in one go, with almost no cross referencing.
I blame poor reading skills of kids today. For me, reading is fun and not a chore unless the material is boring to death. On the other hand, this chick in the aforementioned class (who was 19 years old), simply could NOT bring herself to read Blitz (mind you it was a softcover pocketbook, and not a bad one at that - a crime/mystery/action novel, apparently a New York Times bestseller too). She mentioned she asked her mom (!) to read it out loud to her on a few occasions. I believe that girl failed the class. |

| Coolness: 685800 | People are too fucking lazy these days. I remember in grade 5, one week the teacher said we had to read and do a book report on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Over the course of that week, she got into yelling matches with all the students and some even got suspended, because they thought reading was stupid and they didn't want to read a kids book.
Whereas I used the time to read the book, and did a 3-4 page book report on how Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a metaphore for biblical redemption. Bunch of fuckin' n00bs in that class, I tell ya! |

However, earlier this year, i would skip retarded amounts of school to get fucked up; but only to go back (to school) with a different perspective, so i could be more interested in the work i was doing. I got 95% on my english exam... highest mark in the class, what? That's my story, thaaaaankyou.

However, earlier this year, I enjoyed running off during class to get fucked up. Who hasnt wanted to frolick to the bathroom to do a line? Im not going to say i didnt do it to cure boredom, because i did also did this when i wasnt. It is fun to be able to look at school work with another persepective, in another frame of mind per say. I opened up many different fields of vision when i was not sober, and i take that in to account for some of the good grades that i have gotten. I realise that i could have gone about kindling new sources of creativity in a different manner, but I definitly do not regret it. |

School has been one of the more uninspiring, mind-numbing experiences I have gone through. Most of what I have learned in English class, for example, is how to cleverly echo the teacher's opinion in essay form. I can't really blame the teachers, because they have to try to teach both smart and dumb kids in the same classroom. What usually happens is that the average-intellegence kids do alright, the dumb kids drop out, and the smart kids either become geeks and get high marks just for the hell of it, or become bored and skip and do crazy shit just cuz school doesn't even TRY to inspire them to realize their potential. |
