-Have you ever been in love? Horrible, isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens your heart and it means someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses. You build up this whole armor, for years, so nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They don't ask for it. They do something dumb one day like kiss you, or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so a simple phrase like 'maybe we should just be friends' or 'how very perceptive' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a body-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. Domineering girlfriend Terible Lie: hey God, why are you doing this to me? am i not living up to what i'm supposed to be? why am i seething with this animosity? hey God, i think you owe me a great big apology god = ex girlfriend. god is the "person" that religious people care about the most, and him not being religious, she was his god, the one person he cared about more than anything. Down in it: kinda like a cloud i was up way up in the sky and i was feeling some feelings you wouldn't believe sometimes i don't believe them myself and i decided i was never coming down. just then a tiny little dot caught my eye it was just about too small to see. but i watched it way too long and that dot was pulling me down. Same thing that happened with me and my ex. Everything was fine for a while, but I found a "little dot" which is a fault I didn't like and before I knew it it was too much and we were arguing all the time over something stupid, and that's what brought down the relationship. Sanctified: it's still getting worse after everything i tried. what if i found a way to wash it all aside. what if she touches with those fingertips. as the words spill out like fire from her lips. Trying to move on after a failed relationship and not being able to because he still loves her Something I Can Never Have: The song speaks for itself. I can continue this later if you want, but I have to leave for class. Btw, his ex also sued him for 50% of the profits of the album and the judge decided that she should only get 25% because after lyrical interpretation the judge decided that yes she was the inspiration for it, but didn't deserve as much as she claimed. |
