As for psy, well the psy trance scene has always kind of been a distinct scene inside the rave scene. I consider them to be raves just like any other rave, just like a drum n bass night in a club is a rave if you want it to be one. The main reason people use other terms other than "rave" such as "party", "gathering", "festival", "weekly clubnight" is too avoid all the bullshit and misunderstanding that comes with naming an event a rave. Back in the 90s when raves first started out in Canada, there was a lot of negative press surrounding them...If you said "rave", all of a sudden the authorities would be on your ass. It quickly became obvious that it was much easier to call an event a "party" or "festival" and avoid the drama without compromising the music or the event itself. At the end of the day, all you really need for a rave is a soundsystem, a venue, some cool lights and some banging tunes. Really Good Post. I found it funny 2-3 years ago, someone told me i shouldn't play at raves cuz my style was too clubish ( i was playing nu-school break by the way that night ) and i told her, she was quite wrong, and she should know the roots of rave before bitching like that. Anyway, for me, raves are dead a while ago. Now we just assist at all night parties that looks all the same.. same deco, same people, same 5 venues..... People don't dance cuz they are too k-tarded.... Yeeeeeeeeeeep
