 Coolness: 108745 | a rave is a bar/club + after(-hour), that's it! when I speak to people about my interest and confusion build mentioning the word, it's the simple explanation I give. it's nothing more.
it's nice that underground music is being promoted and perhaps the community surrounding them is a little more open-minded but I'm sure if you go to other (bar/club or after) it's because you like the genre played or the community so you'll adapt even if rave or general population think jersey shore are filled with kids that should have got a few more smack behind the head or kick in the bum when they grew up. a big advantage for mainstream bar/club is that they're connected in/directly to the music industry marketing/propaganda machine but that doesn't only affect pop sub-genres, it also affect rock and blues sub-genres. getting back to plur, I think that came out of some pseudo-enlightened people experimenting with drugs assuming the euphoria of it was on par with enlightenment from (religious (discarding the weak argument that some religions are philosophies)) monks. thus the neutral positive feeling, just like you'd binge in sugar wouldn't make one a good or bad person but just feel positive, was mistaken from a positive feeling interlocked with good. a great stretch of the mind affecting the reasoning scale putting more emphasis on good (rather than bad) which come with years of belief and training, something that helped the kangaroo-court prisoners of Guantanamo and political prisoners. putting your "plur" friends in thos situations, the first thing I suspect thay would think related to their "plurness" would be "darn! I'm out of drugs". |

it explains a lot on what the mentality is about, it's interesting to read, i think it describes really well what inspired ravers originally. PLUR does sometimes mean kicking people in the ass. PLUR applies first on yourself, and people need to understand this. peace, love, unity and respect yourself. it promotes a sane way of life, a positive way to use dancing, music and drugs. i live by it, even after 8 years of raving... but this does not mean i'm a carpet of anything like this. since the principle applies first to yourself, the notion of being at peace, love, unity and respect is linked to all the oldest spiritual traditions like taoism, buddhism, or anything that promotes this kind of inner peace through actions, attitudes, and perception. |
