Funny how so many people can't repress their anger about another scene like that...

Must be jealousy.

I don't get it, really. I gave a chance to pretty much every music genre and a lot of different "scenes". The conclusion is always the same... There's bad apples everywhere.

Maybe if people stopped worrying about other communities' problems and tried to focus on making things better for themselves and the people around them that would lead to a better situation for everyone?

People who lose so much of their time being hateful and negative make me think they probably are the bad apples of their group (or lonely bad apples maybe...)
I'm feeling the farce right now..

i'm gonna leave fluffy words here for you all...
not.

i'll still like psy when i get to the end of untangling my dreads... not sure why. and certainly not all the psy out there, because there is a lot of crapstuff. but i love dancing in the sun to the sounds of goa. that's all.

ps; i also think that new-age stuff about conspirations etc is lame and useless. life is life, it's the only truth i know... enjoy it :)

lukeperil what the fuck is the parties at 100$ you speak of? the only one i know of is eclipse... and it's still pretty cheap, 100$, for 3 nights and 4 days of party with many headliners.

also i have one trick to not get bothered by bad vibes at any party, it's to just dance. that way i just get into my innerworld, and i love this place. there are also many psy parties that i would not pay to go to, because i don't feel like it is what i am looking for - something different and creative.

i am just coming back from a trip to panama and at the party they had structures made out of bamboo that looked like lotus and cathedrals. i <3ed it so much. they were 10 people working for a whole month building the structures and deco. so inspiring... i want to create awesome things for the parties here.
I'm feeling excited !!! right now..

Hahaha I never thought that I'd be into a scene that was considered "in". But just like Jimi Hendrix and KMFDM I'm not going to stop liking it because it's famous or popular. And gothic for me has NEVER been about being "different" or non-conforming or conforming. I just like the style, clothing and music and art and whatever else it is to me, whether 10 other people or a billion other people are into it. There's nothing wrong with liking a style that a lot of others like, or even wanting to "fit in" to a group if that's what makes you happy I guess... go enjoy something with a group of others who also enjoy it, whatever.. I think it's pointless to complain about others who are doing things to fit in. So what? Why does it matter to you? Just let them be happy and have their little cliques and do your own thing.

I like psy and other rave parties because I can express myself however I like with whatever style of clothing and dancing and nobody's going to treat me any less because I dress in black once day and bright colors the next, and guys aren't going to grind up on me randomly. I can just do my thing and be happy and listen to a variety of electronic music that gets me dancing. I don't get all the animosity between everyone, just chill the f out and enjoy and have fun and if you don't like some parties, don't go. Nobody's asking you to go to psy parties if you don't like them.. so stick to the dnb and whatever else you like. But whining about it continuously like a jealous baby online is frankly pathetic.

yoshin I love psy parties because they tend to attract some very creative, free-thinking, and reasonable yet fun-loving people like you. Of course there will be idiots who are attracted for different reasons, like everywhere else. I still love to go to psy parties because I can share in the energy of the people I DO like and the music that I DO like and nevermind the people who are bringing their negative drama issues around. I just don't pay much attention to it and focus on the things that I like instead.

QFT

The amount of whining jealousy on here is obnoxious. Do these people even spend time promoting and enjoying the things they DO like or do they just devote all their time to what they hate?

No I don't really like HHC to be honest, it's one of the other types of electronica that doesn't make me happy for long periods of time. But going around on here all day trying to convince everyone else that it sucks wouldn't be right. People are entitled to enjoy it without my verbal abuse. Go out and dance to HHC, enjoy it, be happy! What do I care? Everyone has different tastes and I think it's best that way, gives us more variety. And just because HHC doesn't particularly get ME off doesn't mean that people who listen to it are all idiots. So stop with this BS that everyone who listens to psy and enjoys psy parties is *insert overgeneralization here*. Get the f over yourselves and spend more time focusing on what you DO like and not on trashing the people who happen to like something that is not YOUR thing. You're not the only person in the world and you're not the only one with valid tastes.

Psy party's seem to attract a lot of very creative beautyful open minded peoples.
Sure success comes with its share of leaches and shady characters.
Not much you can do about that in a free country.

as long as ALL the different scenes consent to being guilty of bitching other scenes, we can all be happy and honest people.

i know i hate how some people are, and those some people are in every scene. Certain styles of music and their inherent values attract more of those people than others, unfortunately; but they're still everywhere. Some of those assholes don't even like music - they're there to take advantage of others.

to quote a hardcore gabber track (y'know, that so-called hate filled style of negative techno) :

"The whole thing is based on respect
Respect to the music
Respect to the dj's
Respect to the crowd
And respect to one another

We have to remain in constant contact
But look around yourselves
We got every kind of person in this room
And they're not kicking fucking attitude
It's about music

Music never separated people
No ones style of music is better than the other
No ones style is truer than the other
It's all music, It's all music, It's all music " -Endymion, 2001.

what is a scene? and how can it consent bitching anything?

i think we are all different unique people here... if i see one, two, or three person bitching on something, i don' take it that a 'scene' is bitching. i take it that those one two or three people just need to grow up, or take lessons in tolerance, and whatever.

lukeperil just said that psy people are like a hive mind... well is that what you mean by 'scene'? for my part i think it's a useless generalization, some kind of paranoia, to think that all psy people are hive-minded against hardcore or whatever.

live and let live?
oh yes and great lyrics there. is that why you also listen to celine dion, and the justin beiber? :)

a scene is a gang of people resigned to grouping together based on the music (in this case) that they prefer. as a group, they can therefore consent to anything, to any one opinion that they share.

that group might be made up of a bunch of different unique individuals, but they adhere to a herd mentality, as unfortunate as it is, so don't act so naïve ;)

besides, i'm just commenting on what people call a scene, i don't condone it and i didn't make it up ... i always thought it was the rave scene, the electronic music scene, but apparently i'm wrong :/

but... i don't represent psy-trance scene when i write on [ rave.ca ]
i don't think we have a porte-parole, or a collective point of view on hardcore.
the psy 'scene' opinion.. i don't know. we never made a consensus on whether we like hardcore or not, and whether we should actively bash it or not.

it may just be that some people make a point in their heads that the 'scenes' are against each other... when it's truely just individuals that express their points of view, and for one person that lacks sense and tolerance, there are about 10 that just live and let live, and have the great vibes... but we don't hear of them because they are busy enjoying life... and that goes in all the scenes.

so anytime someone says a scene that they don't enjoy is 'this and that and crap', they are just being the bad vibe that the other scene may perceive as a porte-parole for the whole scene, and judge everyone as intolerant. but no... it's one person's opinion only... and most often than not probably based on ignorance, because of course they didn't go to many parties of the scene that they 'hate on' because they are better than that, and a fast judgement from ignorance and fear of whatever is truely all that it is.

stop giving so much importance to the shit talk... and stop shit talking if you can. we can be a lot more constructive than that :)

oh yes and for my part (if anyone care lol)
i sometimes enjoy dancing to hardcore, it's not my fav parties to go to though, because i have something special for psy in my heart. but there is something in the hardcore that i find inspiring, to the roots, to the political un-political that it may vehicule by the freeparties and etc... something i find by reading on freetekno on the internet, in the values that they have.. and that psy should take for inspiration some of that.
i don't see it a lot here in montreal, but then again, i don't go to hardcore parties much... so i can't tell much, i've probably just not looked hard enough :P

btw, Yoshin, i wasn't talking about hardcore vs. psy ... i was just making an honest general statement that pertains to ALL music scenes, from metal to techno to hip-hop to noise, etc.

And no, i don't listen to celine dion, i really hate that shit, but it's still music, so i won't hate someone who listens to it. if you're in a room with a group of people at an event, the one thing you have in common is that you dig the style of music.

Everyone has an opinion, everyone likes different tunes, some people make a public statement about it, in as much as some musicians take a stand on a style by only making the type of music they prefer, and all you can do is say: fuck you, i like *insert style* ...

... and then someone will shit on it. No one is innocent of having pulled down their shorts and taken a big verbal crap on a certain sound that didn't turn them on.

I mean, fuck, this is a rave site - why are we talking about music anyway? :p

the d&b pack is like 10000 times more varied than psy. One kick, one lead, one bassline, one loud trancy riser aaaaaand you're done. D&B has access to like, every vinyl recorded sample ever made to begin with. Don't hear too many psy breaks these days so I'm guessing they don't use them
But enough about how plain Psy is...what about ZOUK???

Believed the same thing for a long time before I actually started listening to some psytrance with an open mind.

Every genre of electronic music sounds boring and generic until you start really exploring it and looking for the jems. Just think about DnB for a minute...... "amen break"....fuck, will they ever get tired of it?

And maybe you'll be suprised to learn that psytrance producers also have access to samples! This technology is not strictly reserved to DnB artists. There is more to samples than simply cutting a drum break and looping it.
