I'd have to say Cutter wins this one Screwy,

I mean the guy might be a crazy fuck, but he still makes a living fixing computers.

I'd go with his advice over yours anyday

I worked on an XP based D.A.W this week end and i remember why I ditched the fucking thing 4 years ago. Nothing but problems. Thank god the dark age of Vista/XP is almost over!

if its not working you did somthing wrong, seven and vista doesnt come from space you know

shure there is some flaws , but us in the bsd/linux community will patch the defect when it happens, not delete fucking everything and install a new system32

some support service microsft shitheads offer you , they killed your whole 500$ + os so you go and do the same error again , you think it wont happen at the end of life of seven ?

or even sooner , when vista will , an other os has being built to replace seven , yall doomed anyways. might as well find better ways to use the money and make shure to promote the right things so this capitalistic attitude from that corp doesnt come a nationnal security , doing things as they see fit ( for their own glorious ends )

I operate D.A.W.s. I don't fix them but I know my way around on basic troubleshooting. Besides, when you're producing, you DON'T want to spend energy and time fixing a bloody OS.

actually my definition of producing goes to every step of production , even if it means reinventing the wheel , anything else is USING imo .

if you produce a response it can either be you fix it or got around it , i prefer the first one

you would repair a gitar neck , yet your claiming here anologically you wouldnt , i think the problem here is that most of you dont know whats under and just goes with what it does from afar.

Here what's we should do: You make the best OS there's ever been out there and I'll learn MaxDSP this while I'm "using" a D.A.W so we cover a lots of ground in matter of production.

cool?

shure how much you pay , im working for myself, youd have something to contribute i would share , in the meantime...

ill clarify : i wasnt asking for help with vst while you still learning to code dsp , that wouldnt be much of a problem ,either being a stand alone modude or simply poke at the one inside whatever card you bought, im saying this bogus musical forum outta go technical and bits and botls way more than the lame ass shit i seen so far

no but at least something less " bottom pit leading nowhere " than what i just read,
reminds me how this aggregation of ppl here only turns to " shuts up " when someone stands out.

clones

stephen hawkins,, how about feynmann ? you cant get anybetter than feynmann

i installed seven again yesterday , and i still think its shit
takes the same amount of time to install as xp
has a gazillion of useless services
shure it has new i/o support , something you can patch anyways in xp.
lacks 16 bits support , 32 bits is choppy by certain case senarios\
keeps too much artifacts on the drive, formating isnt what it used to be
disk tools suck before gettin into the installed gui , that is if you think they dont suck there too
will definitely bug on some program they decided you shoudlnt run anymore , while simply rebooting in xp , the apps work like a charm. talk about linearity in their systems.

you like to buy a set of new apps every time they claim yours is DEAD , suit my day go ahead and join the hurd , your blind to the truth in cause

Neko: Of course nothing pisses me more than corporations falsy claiming that your product is obsolete. That's why i spit on Digidesign/Avid (Pro-tools) who treat their client base like a bunch of mindless sheeps to milk them out in a dream of a better Pro-Tools (yeah, like that's gonna happen!). I don't even use Windows 7 for myself, I'm on MacOSX and it doesn't attract me any problems. Yes, feed me your "mac fanboy" BS if you want, so far it's the best OS I've experienced in terms of software compatibility and stability. I'd love to see a open based OS that runs the tools and hardware i need, beleive me, however I DON'T have the time to make my own. I hope you understand my P.O.V

well i hardly see -include the world- people looking for alternative , hense not very original.

one problem i have with mac is the time they took to leave their proprietary hardware when ibm was even less proprieteray than them , and we call a pc a compatible for that reason of being an open alternative to the proprietary sheme.

now that i hate about mac, is they took the bsd core , remove most of the functions the normal bsd system have and slap a sticker on it claiming its got a bsd open source core under witch is half proprietary closed source (this is a bad ethic move in open source)

so my point. the home computer has been turn into something closer to a proprietary console than a switchbox that can do what any operator want.

shure if you want to use a perticular function of a machine made so im all with you using it. performance and r&d wise that pisses me off , not you the ww market stains it make.

still a design nightmare compared to OSX. The underlying OS is good though, but they need to dump the silly 'wizard' system that started rearing its ugly head in vista.

For example: changing any networking settings requires 7-8 clicks in win7. In OSX all network settings are in one section, easily laid out. I've been working in tech support to make some extra money. I could teach an old lady to set up and configure network settings on an osx based system, in windows the bad design would make that take 10x as long.

MS needs to desperately dump the labyrinthian interface in windows and adopt something closer to OSX or even the latest version of Ubuntu linux.

People use macs because they are good turn-key solutions for media work. YOU KNOW that logic audio and final cut will run well on Apple systems.
I'm feeling meow right now..

snip : this is one computer component desc in wiki , a lot of innovations even stressed by big players , are most of the time , rejected by its power users that know better . example 1

ACPI Overview

ACPI aims to consolidate and improve upon existing power and configuration standards for hardware devices.[1] It provides a transition from existing standards to entirely ACPI-compliant hardware, with some ACPI operating systems already removing support for legacy hardware.[2] With the intention of replacing Advanced Power Management, the MultiProcessor Specification and the Plug and Play BIOS Specification,[3] the standard brings power management into operating system control (OSPM), as opposed to the previous BIOS central system, which relied on platform-specific firmware to determine power management and configuration policy.[4]

The ACPI specification contains numerous related components for hardware and software programming, as well as a unified standard for device/power interaction and bus configuration. As a document that unifies many previous standards it covers many areas, for system and device builders as well as system programmers. Some software developers have trouble implementing ACPI and express concerns about the requirements that bytecode from an external source must be run by the system with full privileges.[5] Linus Torvalds, creator of the Linux kernel, once described it as "a complete design disaster in every way", in relation to his view that "modern PCs are horrible".[6]

Microsoft Windows 98 was the first operating system with full support for ACPI[citation needed], with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, eComStation, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, HP-UX, OpenVMS, Linux and PC versions of SunOS all having at least some support for ACPI[citation needed].

computers ran fine without this additionnal component , that winblows now absolutely requires for installation and running. xp,2000,98,95,3.11 can run without. developers also have a hard time implementing it since the makers keep the information to temselves and opensource community eventually implemented basic support from backtracing closed source . this is called information whoring.
