so cool! It's wings were moving so fast it made a buzzing noise. It's really tiny - not that much bigger than a really big bumble bee. I have hardly ever seen hummingbirds here in my life |

Here are my birds! From left to right: Chopper, BBQ, Whitebeard, Black-Funeral-Doom-Metal and Chico. I think BBQ will die this year, she seems to have stopped to give eggs and she's already 3 years old. |

Last week I saw a Cardinal and even had the time to snapshot it. cool! funny you should mention Cardinals cuz we had a pair outside our door yesterday the male at the birdfeeder was pure red like your pic - but the female was sitting in a tree nearby - she wasnt nearly as colourful - more like this: 
as you can see from this google map pic we have lots of trees and bushes and gardens on our property so all kinds of birds live here 
years ago we had a Pileated Woodpecker in one of our trees for a couple weeks. they are very rare around here. the thing was friggin huge! it was so loud when it would be pecking holes it seriously sounded like some construction worker was hammering nails into a board 
and last month... at like 3 AM... I had my window open and I heard one of these calling from somewhere nearby - Great Horned Owl  |

Impressive! ya I was surprised to hear it. never heard it before. but our house is literally just a couple minutes walk from the Bruce Trail, so sometimes at like 3 AM I've heard Coyotes, too. I've seen foxes on our property, and late one night I even saw a little Coyote cub run Late one night I actually saw a little Coyote cub run across our lawn. out on the trails I hear Great Horned Owls when the sun goes down. they have a really distinctive call. PS - I have now discovered how nice it is to sit out int he backyard and surf the net - so relaxing! the days of havng to sit inside on a nice day to get computer work done are over the only problem is I need a battery that lasts longer - but the wireleass works fine this is my new spot to chill on the lapptop ->  |
