As you can see its a non issue. We all do it and its perfectly ok. Anyhow now that thats cleared up Back to the dj battles :) |

Well, if it's gonna be done, it should be done right: first, you need about 10 DJs. they play about 30 minutes each - this is the regular season. --> Point system: 1 point per track played, -2 for trainwrecks, -1 for near misses w/ recuperation, and bonus points (1 to 5 pts) to be decided by 3 judges, which depend on crowd enthusiasm, and track selection. Also, -1 pnt for playing Tiesto tracks, and -1 pnt for every backspin. second, eliminate the bottom 2 DJs - we now head into the playoffs. --> 20 minutes sets. 1st place Dj battles 8th place, 2nd place battles 7th etc. Battles are won depending on: number of trainwrecks relative to the number of tracks played, crowd enthusiasm, sound control (volume fluctuation, EQ balance, etc.), and track selection. third, round 3, 4 DJs eliminated, 4 remain - the semi-finals --> Based on the same judgements as the previous battle, we eliminate 2 more DJs. fourth - the final battle --> 2 x 30 minute sets each. judged using the harshest Dj criteria, including: technique, number of tracks played, number of trainwrecks, track selection, scratch ability, sound control, crowd manipulation/interaction, originality, creativity, stamina, and, of course, cleanliness of records (an inch of dust on the needle once a track is half-way done - you lose) ... --> If a tie results, there are two options - either a rapid-fire 10 question quiz on musical knowledge, or, another 15 minute battle, blindfolded. (yes, there are similarities between this and hockey playoffs, but remember, you can't spell disc jockey without the word jock) :P |

 Coolness: 685680 | I like the blindfolded 15-minute tie-breaker.. I've actually once done a whole set at a house party so drunk that if I opened my eyes I'd have fallen over or puked, so I mixed for about 2 hours with my eyes closed and leaning on the wall/sofa so I wouldn't fall over  |

Lets see some battles guys... So yeah, changed your mind? Too bad you can't make to Epic Coalition, but I'm sure we can still set up a nice lil' soundclash between you and Host. And everyone else who'd like to participate! That blindfold thing gives me an idea though, how 'bout something where the crowd can't see the DJs playing? Seems like this would take away the DJ's "popularity", crowd would have to judge solely on track selection, technique, etc. Seems like this could even be done through a radio show or something. Just putting that out there, heh. |
