Woah oh oh! Not very ravey is any of that? Well the thread title was too open ended so I dropped some of my favourites from the land of the rising sun on you kids as if this was ihatemusic or something.

That was an excellent post, thanks for sharing. This thread has an open ended
title on purpose, it's a place for people to find out about artists they're not
familiar with. Genre doesn't matter. One of the reasons I chose Japan was because
it has the second largest music industry in the world yet, aside for a few J-Pop bands
that are popular with weeaboos, their artists have next to no recognition over here.
There's plenty of opportunities for great musical discoveries.

Mutante, thanks for the Pizzicato Five video -- I hadn't seen that one. P5 is one
of my favorites, they've got this silly, kitschy sensibility that I like.

Pizzicato Five: The Audrey Hepburn Complex (my favorite video of theirs)

It's a beautiful day

Baby Portable Rock

I'm feeling in my world, they conquered oz right now..

Here's a couple of Japanese artists I like:
Jun Senoue, guitarist in the group Crush 40 and music composer for many Sega game soundtracks (Sonic 3, Sonic Adventure 2, Super Smash Bros Brawl, etc.).

Sigh, a black metal/avant-garde group. One of the members, Dr Mikannibal, plays saxophone. It adds something very interesting to metal.

Hideki Naganuma, another Sega composer/arranger. He created most of the Jet Set Radio and Sonic Rush games soundtracks.
I'm feeling jet set radiooo!! right now..

Shing02... japanese hip-hop...sucks I don't understand what he's sayin' lol

Merzbow... Used to listen to his music. Now I just can't stand it even though I appreciate the artistic process (or whatever...)

Cornelius.... Great mix of noise, pop, rock, electronic and a bit of everything.

Also like Boredoms and Acid Mothers Temple.
I'm feeling the bass right now..

Heh, only know him from the Samurai Champloo opening track he did with Nujabes...

Love his jazzy stuff. Too bad he passed away in a car crash recently :(
