thanks for posting that article Jojo! "pandas should be left to die off" ?? what a shitty attitude that guy has. people like him should be left to die off. Packham, who is president of Britain's Bat Conservation Trust and vice-president of the Wildlife Trusts, also saw a grim outlook for endangered tigers.
"I don't think tigers are going to last another 15 years," he said. "How can you conserve an animal that is worth more dead than alive? You can't." =( sad to say, but the outlook for tigers is very grim. already at least a couple species have been killed off in modern times. There was a really beautiful species of tiger that used to live in parts of the Middle East and Russia, but when the Soviets came to power, they had teams of soldiers go and kill every single one they could find, until they had all disappeared. but that doesn't mean people should give up. I remember reading in the early 1980s that there was only 50 Siberian Tigers left in the wild.. and they have still survived. still... it's not looking good. poverty, ignorance and greed > tigers =( Tigers are doing very well in only one place in the world - called the Sunderbans. it is a *gigantic* shark, crocodile and tiger infested swamp and forest. it's so dangerous for humans that they haven't been able to properly settle it... travelling through the forests puts you at extreme risk of being attacked. so the tigers are thriving there, and are notorious man-eaters. |

Pandas are awesome, but I mean they have to be forced to breed and have to be artificially inseminated for them to reproduce.. We need to stop playing god and let nature take it's course; not just for them but for ALL the animals. How many millions/billions are being spent to preserve animals that ..just.. look pretty? We're not eating them, we're not keeping them as pets, yet we're spending so much money on them... Looking at the economy, hell, looking at the WORLD, is that something we should be doing? How many people are starving to death each day? How many people live in poverty and can't afford food/medication/clothing/shelter? Why the fuck don't we focus on helping EACH OTHER first, and spend money improving the quality of life for, say, the people in Africa who have so little food that they eat CLAY to stave off their hunger? Fuck the animals, what ever happened to our fellow human beings? |
