oh man Scream in 2003 was the fucking bomb! No one thought Neophyte was gonna show up since they'd played in QC the same night, and I think there was some story going around about their equipment having been stolen.. And right as I was at the top of the stairs about to go down and leave, they start playing!
totally one of the awesomest parties!
I'm feeling your norks right now.. |

If you were talking about Adam X at FouFs then it was in '93. Fractal Surfers had lots of parties, could've been anytime. After such a long time, 1 or 2 years diff doesn't matter anyhow. Bliss pictures are here [ www.rave.ca ] and yeah it was regarded as one of the best party ever in Montreal Old Shool days. |

In Canada Motive2, no clue when it was, probably 1997-1998... Was in a garage in the Peel Industrial Area...
In France no clue what it was called, 1997... I came back from France a new person! Whoot... Then I started looking for the parties... :)

mine was Meow Mix - Aug 19th 2000 on Vancouver Island - Cassidy on a farm just outside Nanaimo, BC
I was mostly into the club scene at the time, so my coworker told me i had to go and she got us a ride there, she dressed me up as a candy kid - fun fur, phat pants, candy up to the elbows, visor, pigtails, you name it - i was a candy kid. I had done E before, so when i got there it wasnt too overwhelming. there was about 700 people there. I stayed until 7am or so, then had an after party at my place and then i went to work. i didnt go to another rave for about six months, but still partied with the same group of candy kids. My favourite style of music is speed garage. Im also a sucker for drum n bass. |

hmmm.. went to some warehouse party in 93 in Toronto.. fuck knows what it was or who was playing... but it was a big production. I was strictly a hip hop head so I had no idea.. my friends in Hamilton were going and they just got me to go with em
I was at Destiny 1 in Toronto I think, but I can't be sure.. went to a couple of the early Destinys in 94 .. think I saw Cosmic Baby at Destiny in like February 95... but other than that I don't really remember any of the names of the DJs performing though.. it was all new to me those parties were amazing.. they put so much work into the deco and chill out rooms - REAL chill out rooms with comfy couches and pillows and crazy lighting and a DJ playng trip hop or other funky breakbeat - ... and these crazy tunnels covered in cobwebby fluff that you'd walk through, and fog everywhere with crazy lasers shinging through also went to the Delerium jungle parties, Syrous, Pleasure Force, Warriors of the Dance - with Krome and Time the last jungle rave (and yes they were called that back then) that I went to was Syrous - the Empire Strikes Back with DJ Phantasy and the first North American appearance of DJ Hype... that was in Spring 95 oh and I caught Speedy J doing a live PA at this Storm/Eclipse rave in Hamilton in summer 95. that was the last one I went to until I was DJing years later not long after that I started university and never went to those big parties anymore... just listened to my mixtapes those old parties were hype though ... really friendly vibes.. I never did *any* drugs at any party either. I'd have a couple pints at Sneaky Dee's in Toronto before we'd head out, and that would be it for the night my friends would get all mangled on acid and shrooms and stuff and would get all freaked out and hide in the corner... I just danced all night till sun up completely sober.. the music was so good it kept me going... I remember at Warriors of the Dance in the techno room, the sun was coming in thru the giant warehouse windows, the DJ let the record play and came down and danced with us... really good vibes.. I met most of the people in the jungle and techno rooms- they'd come up and introduce themselves at one point or another and were super cool cats.. in the jungle room, Krome and Time were amazing, even though I didnt know who they were yet... that might have been my favourite party ever actually.. everything was perfect those were good times |

Thats cool, I never did any drugs either back then, didn't even drink
Had the best times of my life, meet most of my oldest and closest friends at those parties Proof that you don't need to do drugs to rave or enjoy music I actually used to get pissed at the media for always promoting the drug side of raves, because most of us were not like that at all. It was guys like me and Recoil, tripping on the music...most of my friends smoked a little weed here and there, or did the odd "e" if it was a special occassion, but that was pretty much it. The media is actually partly to blame for how bad the drugs got in the rave scene, cause it did get really bad (people dieing and shit)...All of a sudden you had kids were showing up like "oh, we HAVE to take drugs to enjoy these parties, lots of drugs", when nothing could be further from the truth
