I dont want do die my hair. And I dont mind the demarcation of colors. Dont try to discourage me, It wont work! :P

If she is planning on using bees wax, or ANY product whatsoever, DON'T DO IT!!!
There's a technique that requires nothing but hair, and you can wash your hair as often as you like with normal shampoo. I have the contact of a guy who knows the real way to do dreads for white people, it's painful and expensive but you will look good, not like shit.

By the way, colorful extensions are great for a night out, but if you plan on having them for months, I would seriously reconsider. You don't want to sleep on nylons, or really have anything 'fake' on your self for long periods of time, it's unnatural and will end up looking f(*%# strange more than anything else. The human body is beautiful on it's own...
long term extensions are like girls who put on way too much makeup. You don't want people to ONLY be looking at your hair you know? If they are bright green or orange or something, you might end up just looking like a cybergoth freak to most people.
Of course your true friends won't mind, but first impressions in all scenarios ARE important...
I'm feeling hype right now..

yeah, for what you want, you'd be better off with Sticks than real dreads

[ quinnster.fqdn.net ]

they're called "silky" on this page, but it describes the process.. shouldn't cost too much, and when your roots start coming in you just cut the tip, unwrap, and you've still got your hair, rather than cut it short or shave it off.
I'm feeling your norks right now..

strange, i know some 15 year olds who have found themself more then people who are 30.
cant base life around age all that much when it comes to stuff like that.
people mature in different ways.

Yeah there is a way to do em up nice and tight with a crochet hook or something.
I initially used bees wax to get mine done and man what a mistake....And I had at the time hair that hung down well past my man nipples

What I finally ended up doing was every six months or so, just making a loop and pulliing the entire dread through the loop and tightening it to the scalp.

Worked beautifully, and made for nice clean small (ie non poo like) dreads. If the last know at the bottom came undone, i could just snip it to make it nice and clean again....By the end it was like a tree, you could count the knots to know the age of the dread hehe.

BUt yeah best bet is to start with short hair, and make small braids. That big chunk that grows out will be your dread baby, from there once they get long enough to loop through themselves its step 2.

Proper dreds is easily a 5 yr commitment...YOu are going to go through periods where they look like complete shit before they start to look remotely good.
I'm feeling jungle jam in june! right now..

Dreads smell horrible most of the time, unless you have natural dreads (ie you have nappy hair), well formed, and well washed. I can think of maybe two people I've known who were capable of keeping them clean. The rest have louse colonies.
I'm feeling mighty frisky right now..

I agree. Some 14 y/o are very mature. Like I can totally have intelegent and deep conversations with them about what they think about societies ability to deal with global warming, the trend about kids growing up quicker and stunted adolesence in adulthood, and about what they want to do after cegep
