yeah, you can only eat so much "basic" food before you get sick of it.. Having chrons, also, (and despite now being on medication) I'm a lot more sensitive to things.. I can't eat pasta every day, by day three of eating pasta once a day my intestines rebel.. same with a lot of foods..

I seem to have that problem mostly with non-meat items; I can eat meat every day and be fine, but if I eat no meat, I get weak, feel sick, spend a lot of time on the can, get headaches.. when I couldn't eat meat I was so fucking bad off it was insane..

I've yet to find much food that I can eat a lot of, constantly, that I'm fine with.. Oddly, with the canned veggies (or veggies in general) my body tends to treat them the same way; if I eat them a lot for a few days, I start rejecting them and need to move on to something different..

eventually, you start running out of cheap food :P
I'm feeling your norks right now..

bag of pasta for 1.29$ + can of tomato paste for .59$ : assuming you have water + spices, is a much better deal :)

but there is a problem, some ingredients and basic foods can be found cheap, but the things you need to buy to make a complete meal, are still expensive...

Uhh, you're going to eat 1.0kg of rice in one meal.......? That much rice should last you a month.

it's shown countless times through really well done studies that eating healthy is more expensive than eating crap...and the price of junk food keeps getting cheaper compare to good food...think chips vs organic apples.

If you want to eat cheap tho, rice is the way to go, you can buy a rice cooker in china town for like 40 bucks and they are great, you'll never fuck rice up again...

also chutnay and kim chi type things are great because they last forever and you can just smack on top of white rice and blamo! you got a meal...

another thing to do is just try to keep track of what's actually in season when you buy produce...it's different for every area but usually it's cheaper to get the 'local' thing, like strawberries, sure you can get them in january but they will be from california or chile and they will be 3 99 a pint where as if you wait till june, and drive out to granby you get them for 1.50 a kilo...
I'm feeling surly right now..

I dunno. Again...it depends what you cook and buy. I have a room-mate who eats a bag of chips and 2L of coke 3 times a week for dinner. Thats like 4$. So if thats what you mean by junk, then yes, its probably slightly cheaper. But seriously, thats pushing rediculous.

Eating healthy is not more expensive than eating fast-food though.

I do the fast food meals in exam time cuz I can get away with 2 meals instead of 3. It also saves time. I spend about 10-12$ a day on food when I cook at home. Eating out is about 17. But when I cook at home I might get breakfast - eggs, cereal, toast, milk, oj. Lunch - sandwich, banana, vegetables, chips. Dinner - chicken breast, penne, tomoato sauce, salad. Eating out i might get brunch - subway + timmies donut and Wendy's for dinner.

Not only is eating at home cheaper, but the quality and quantity of food is greater. Hands down.

example : just a little out of town , ppl were only buying the normal BIG brands . ie KRAFT peanut butter that retailed 4$ bucket, while a new 100% bio one sold for 2 $ same size.

a few months later. people got aware , eat more healty, they looked at the number , and inverted like the thrend.

so now KRAFT still sells 4$ and the 100% bio 4.50$

a coalition on protecting heatly food prices obliges.
---

same goes with tooth fillings that are still amalgam in canada ( lead, mercury , they are toxic and now illegal in finland since this year ) yet asking for plastic one here are " esthetic " ( like turmors are esthetical now sheesh! ) and if you care for your health it will cost you 200$ to 400$ a tooth for a tube of fucking uv epoxy shoved in there.

again , if jean charrest would stop diverting money to the rich and privatisation, we could refinance and reorder our medical WITH dental and have the worlds best heath status , but no .. he wants a few lexus and a swiss account.
I'm feeling snafu right now..

You can even do without the rice cooker. It's just easier but if you ask me, I prefer the old fashion way of cooking rice.

Now back to the thread subject:

Who likes fried chicken? *Everyone raises their hands*

good.

Who likes melon? *Again, everyone raises their hands*

Then why the fuck America thinks it's only black folks who enjoy fried chicken and water melon?

It's easy to go in a black neighborhood and film such a stereotypical newsflash (what the fuck, that's not even news, that pure filler material)
I'm feeling spirit of massachuse right now..
