a divorced ( that is THE basic reason why everything happpen and how important it is in any stupid hollywood movies ) frustrated prick who think that immigrants, old people, young teenagers and depanneur owner are the REAL problem to the society. And U.S. flag everywhere back to back in the movie also makes it soooo brilliant. Of course why having wall street businessmen, politicians, senators, corporations presidents ect when you can have ordinary people as targets in a script. taste like it was wrote in C.I.A. office...... Perfect I think you missed the point of the movie. It's about a man who snaps and goes after all he sees. He remembers the days of HIS childhood where the USA were the good guys (in his mind) and everything was cheap and beautiful and whatnot. He now sees USA the way it really is. His eyes are now opened. The problem is that his vision of the USA is so ingrained in his mind that he can't see the country as having failed him but rather the other, new people (immigrants, food corporations, street gangs) as having perverted it. At the end, when confronted by the old cop, he finally realizes that people like him have caused as much, if not more, problems and made the country what it is today. It's brilliant, in its own way :) |

| Coolness: 685625 | I really fail to see how/why people are figguring "immigrants" into the whole thing.. He's got nothing against any of the latino or black people he runs into; in fact, he goes balistic and kills the neo-nazi for insinuating that he was cleaning the city up from the immigrants! Even in the rocket-launcher scene, it's a black kid that's helping him figgure out how it works, and he's genuinley gratefull and not mean/sarcastic at all when dealing with him.. He doesn't act like he's
"putting up" with the black kid, like someone who had something against immigrants/non-whites would.. I don't see it so much as being about the corruption that the US/society has reached, more about how no one is really friendly or helpefull.. No one is really genuine or nice, and everyone will lie to your face (the black guy that's not "economicaly viable", the construction guy that finally admits there was nothing wrong with the street, etc) It's about how your fellow man won't help you out when you're down.. He won't help you make change for a phone-call, he won't see if he can squeeze you in a breakfast 3 minutes after they've stopped serving them.. It's about people turning into uncaring dicks who aren't willing to help each other out, just because the "rules" say so or because they might lose out on 25 cents.. |
