It depends what kind of living you're talking about. I make my living off of music and I'm pretty sure that my poor ass is still "underground", haha.

It just took time and energy away from WHAT I'M REALLY SUPPOSED TO BE DOING. Well fuck that! After being robbed, that's gone but I'm not a fucking victim and now I've just said "fuckit" and I'm doing my fucking art and nothing else. Now I don't even have the coin to get it going and I'm doing it anyways, and I don't even care if I have to eat less because of it. I'd rather die than waste my life doing something else that's supposedly "contributing" to society. *What* fucking society. Fucking fucking fuckity fuck fuck fuckening fuck.

But if just doing music on the side makes you happy and you're able to live with that, go for it! Some of us are not in that situation.

"Patience" IMO is not supposed to include "not being able to fully get into my art because I'm spending all my time and energy on something else". I think I'm showing AMPLE patience. Ample.

Why does techno.fm still not show listener count to people... Are they scared to show that no one is listening or is there another reason for it... I mean even if 20 people are listening I dunno why you don't just show the stats... Every other station does...

Slhsdfkdfhksjhs, if I'd listened to all the people who've shit on me & mocked me over the years for doing what I do or all the people who've pressured me to do something else (ironically for the sole reason of making money) I would have given up 10 years ago. I'm very happy today I didn't

I just got myself a good setup with a low-latency soundcard, so you will for sure be getting some dubstep metal once I re-string my 7-string and get to practicing a little (I've played it maybe 30 minutes in the past 5 years..)

Vegannibal >> I was not shooting you down for having ambitions of living off of your art or music, but being realistic is part of being patient. There is nothing wrong with being able to pay your way while you make music, and trust me it will take a lot out of you, but at the end of the day, you may learn more than you bargained for(I have learned a lot about people and business thanks to all of the non-music related jobs I've had). Combining art income with full or part time employment income can help you not only live well, but afford the quality equipment and resources you need to help form the craft to succeed.

Money is the #1 cause of coruption in this world. if your ambition is to make money with somethine, hence market a product, i'm sorry to say but you will eventually sell out (to make money)..

start by making the music (or loving the music) and IF you make money doing what you love than great.. but it shouldn't be the motivation to MAKE the music. that's all i'm saying.

Vegannibal : If lets say, tomorrow, a big producer comes to your place and wants to sign you to there record label, offers you 35,000$ to make 12 tracks with them but tells you that the stuff you currently play is garbage and throws a "note pad" on your sofa and says "pratice these songs" and show up on monday at the studio.. what do you do ??

now, a normal humain who wants MONEY would take this chance (selling out to themselves).. if you say NO, then do you really want to be making music for a living ??

check it out from that angle !! :)

BTW: for the record, i don't "work" for techno.fm as i am not paid for what i bring them. It's more of a passion and an obsession (like Na said) that keeps me stuck like glue to stuff like this.

Making music is its own reward, thats why so many peoples do it JUST FOR FUN.
What can happen when you start playing for money, often times, is that you loose control of the creative proses, because whoever is giving you money eventually might want his say in how you do stuff. If you are strapped for cash, chances are you will bend your vision, or totally change it to accommodate mr producer.
Some peoples have no problem with this, seeing as they didn't have much vision to star off with And making money is the reward they where hoping for.
But there something to be said about sticking to your vision, its the mark of a real artist, a true leader.
I'm feeling love right now..
