It's especially worse when you're in a city where you can't speak the language. Trying to get pills in Tokyo was the most frustrating/embarrassing experience ever. |

Yeah i must admit that it's really embarassing to be new somewhere and looking like a drug addict, asking to everyone you meet in the street if they have or know someone who sells drugs. The best place to look are still around arena, metro or bus terminus. 1 personne sur 5 doit vendre de la drogue dans ces endroits. Haaaa les arénas, ça la souvent sauver beaucoup de mes soirées ;) |

That's only happened twice, and the damn non-alcoholism wasn't very obvious, and an unsuspecting buyer can be blinded by the price if he or she isn't familiar with the brands packaging. I can usually differentiate 5% with that non-alcoholic piss they call beer, but this was an imported non-alcoholic beer, so I only managed to notice that it was non-alcoholic by the taste, and then confirmed my suspicions by reading... The FINE print. :p
And no, Jojo... I never succeeded in getting high. It was impossible in communicating with the Japanese on how to get drugs. I only knew how to say Biru in bars, and the rest on my capabilities on getting drunk relied on my ability to properly point, and nod like a child, at what I wanted on the menu. A great thing about Japan is that they have pictures of everything you want! (Which just gave me the brilliant idea of carrying a card with a picture of and writing in their language of the drug I'm looking for. Eureka!) Now I'm one of those types of people who willingly tell embarrassing stories about myself for humourous reasons, but the experience I had at an afterhours in Tokyo is too much to reiterate. Ian, if I learned anything from living Edmonton, it was how to get drugs when you know absolutely nobody. This may sound pretty fucking obvious, but your best bet is to make some friends at a bar, or go to an afterhours one night, and try and score some contacts from the dealers who hang around, or the people you befriend who know dealers. From there all you have to do is convince those sketch bags you're not a cop, and voila, you've got yourself a contact in a foreign city. |
