Hmm... Je ne suis pas d'accord. Malgré le fait qu'il y a un facteur "sketch" évident pour ce rave en particulier, c'est facile de justifier le "24 heures en avance". Même si vous avez loué une salle légale à 100% et que le proprio est au courant de vos activités, annoncer l'emplacement d'un rave plus de 24 heures à l'avance est plutot risqué. C'est probablement moins vrai à Montreal mais dans une ville comme Ottawa c'est une réalité. Pourquoi? Parce que si la police apprend l'emplacement de votre rave, même s'il est légal, ils peuvent appeler le proprio et leur faire peur. Comment? En menacant d'envoyer des inspecteurs (de batiment, de la commission d'alcool, etc.) si le proprio permet au locataire de faire un rave - il y a quasiment TOUJOURS quelque chose qu'un inspecteur peut trouver pour donner un amende ou faire en sorte qu'un bar perds son permit d'alcool. Cela m'est arrivé à plusieurs occasions, et je connais d'autre promoteurs à Ottawa qui ont connu des situations similaires. C'est-à-dire que la police a appelé le proprio et leur a fait peur (parlant des méfaits des raves et disant qu'ils enverraient un inspecteur pour faire en sorte qu'ils aient une amende ou qu'ils perdent leur license d'alcool si un rave a lieu dans son bar). Si on annonce l'emplacement à 24 heures d'avance, et que l'évènement a lieu un samedi...Cela fait en sorte qu'il est trop tard le vendredi pour que la police contacte le proprio, et personne ne répond à leur téléphone le samedi. On ne peut jamais être trop prudent, même avec tous les permits. À Ottawa, la police fait TOUT ce qu'elle peut pour que les raves meurent. Mais on est 'smart' nous ;) |

| Coolness: 158345 | As stated in the Calendar page, they don't technically HAVE to say anything prior to the 24 hours before the event. However, since the event is not in Montreal and that they have specified that no means of transport can normally access the event (besides cars) and it being such a large event with so many different DJs, this can't be considered a small venue party and therefore should at the very least share information as to how people can get there.
Not the location, mind you. Simply stated, when the shuttles come and go. Now, there are more problems which need to be resolved. First of all, most of the DJs in the line up seem to have zero information about the event, which really scares me, as I have and will spend a good amount of money just to get the event. This reeks of unprofessionalism, which I find sad because I used to think Mark and Steffie were wiser than that. So, no timeslots, four days prior to the event. No information pertaining to the accessibility of the venue. No information whatsoever. I can understand that Steffie might not have access to a computer at all times, as previously mentioned. However, since Steffie was online no later than yesterday night and being that their previous event was a disaster, please don't be offended that a few of us find it highly doubtful that the event will take place. There is a difference between being pessimistic and BLIND. This stinks of either a promoter taking a too big event and not being able to deal with it, or a scam. Either way, it does not bode well. |

 Coolness: 153165 | I really hate to break your little weekend dreams but I'm truly amazed on how many people are hoping to have a decent party this Friday considering the terrible events hosted by these promoters in the past.
Insomniacs On Crack Attack at the Cyberloft, an apartment sized venue that got busted for drugs, owner arrested. Dine & Dance To Psy Trance at Studio Loco, an other apartment sized venue. Project P.L.U.R. in loft 203 at 1619 William Street, 15$ entrance fee for a single speaker whilst the other lofts (such as the DNB one) had way better sound system for free. Squiggles And Scribbles!, very poorly organized event, complete slap in the face to the DNB crew by having their room closed down the night of. But regardless of all these past experiences... "HEY! LET'S GO TO AN OUTDOOR EVENT ORGANIZED BY THE SAME FAWKIN' PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF MONTREAL." These promoters have had plenty of chances to prove us wrong but they have simply offered us deception after deception. Their utter lack of professionalism by not giving DJs their timeslots (hell, I wasn't even given a phone number), by not giving the party go'ers the shuttle frequencies, and all other infos unrelated to the location of the event says a lot about this weekend's outcome. The only information that we're getting is from someone who isn't really in charge of things and is not quite sure if the info she's giving is confirmed or legit in anyway. (rolls eyes) I mean, who do they think they are? The only people that have the audacity to pull off this shit are "bigshot" promoters which does not fit this situation at all. I realize I've been ranting against these promoters ever since they threw that "give me your money and shut up" event at the 203 loft but I just can't stand and look at the scene's quality get destroyed by people thinking they can live in a rave, completely consumed in drugs and debt whilst utilizing the cover of "PLUR" to justify their actions as they think they can make a quick buck over unsuspecting ravers. The sooner we get rid of these people, the sooner we can move out of this stagnant state and move on to bigger things... |
