You want to DJ and get paid? Grow some balls and ask for money. Don't say "I won't spin unless you pay me X$." Just ask the promoter how much he is going to be paying you, and if he says 'nothing', decide wether you truly want to spin or if it's not worth your time and effort.
Making money in the music biz is NOT a solid way to make money. I love DJing because of the smiles I see on the dancefloor and the consistent flow of people personally thanking me for a good set. Last two gigs I had, I brought my CDJ's and didn't get a single cent. Do I regret it? No. Will I ever accept to do that again? No. It's all about weighing everything out for yourself and deciding what you think you're worth. It's like the dating game, if you don't keep your standards high, you're gonna get fucked, but you're not going to like it. |
