| Compare his numbers to those of other rookies in the league and tell me if his salery and hype are justified. He's inexperienced and lacks the confidence (despite the crowd's overwhelming support) and forthcoming agression required to make significant impression on other players. Perhaps he's just nervous due to the fact that everyone has such high expectations of him but he needs to learn how to intimidate opponents more or they're gonna skate all over him.
Let's face it,... last season Crosby got way more hype than Ovechkin (who's more talented as far as I'm concerned) but at least he produced numbers to reflect the hype...What people neglect to acknowledge is that Crosby had other talented players on his team to help set up and support his scoring opportunities while Ovechkin had practically nobody. actually, i believe that the second spot does have the most pressure, its a best of 3 and if the first team scores on the first goal, and the other team misses the first it could be all over right there. |

| its just nice to have a physical, intense, over 6feet, talented prospect player who goes to the net hard, rather then the same old floating small euros we ve had to deal with for the last 10 yrs...
hes got crazy pressure on him and hasnt made any mistakes, instead hes showing signs of skills (as they just expect him to be a physical presence not a scorer)
sweetness isnt a crosby, but more like a rough n rugged iginla (ok maybe wont be that skilled in offense but still gotta start somewhere)

| Latendresse has skills. He's no Crosby or Overchkin, he's not the same type of player anyway. Give him some time. Also people should stop yelling gui gui gui every time he has the fucking puck. This is a team we're cheering for, not a single player (who cares if he's a frenchie, really).
Anyway he knows how to keep the puck, how to protect the puck from the defenseman. He's great in one-on-one battles. He'll do good work in front of the net, good checking also. All he needs now is to get his game on a higher level to keep up the fast beat of the NHL. That will require time. If you look at the statistics of players like Joe Thorthon and Vincent Lecavalier during their first season, you'll understand why we shouldn't get all excited over Latendresse for his rookie year. |
