| Our networks don't support video conferenceing, cause our phones have a 40kbps connection and not a 5Mbps like in japan... Japan is way ahead, they are smaller in area so they can develop and change their infrastructure way faster then in canada... |

| Yeah.. in the biz we call that a G3 network... as in third generation... first being analogue, second being digital, 3rd still being digital but with a lot more bandwidth... |

| it actually has less to do with our country's size and more to do with its population... the reason why we can't compete price wise with other contries for cell phone technology is because our market is so small, same goes for our infrastructure... but we are merrily moving along, just about 5 years behind japan...haha...

| I didn't read the whole thread and so forgive me if someone already gave this advise but you might wanna go to a place like La Cabine Telephonique where they got all the cellphone providers to choose from.
They're not as inclined as a one place store to push you into picking something..... as long as you take something hehehe
but seriously, go with Telus because I'm buying stocks from them :b |

| Whatever you do, do NOT go with a Siemens phone. I'm on Fido, and for the year or so that I've had a Siemens phone after my Nokia got soaked in the rain, it's been nothing but hassles. Fido's got great plans and coverage, but you also need to make sure the phone isn't crap. |

| Yeah I don't want anything fancy, just want a phone i can talk on and send text messages!
Telus looks good to look into... but my friend has a contract that ends in August with Fido so I am probably going to take her contract and I am not sure but she might get discount on a phone since shes a customer.. anyways thats probably what ill do since the contract only ends in august and they seem to have some decent enough plans. |

| Yeah... she`ll get an offer for a free phone upon renewal, and the Trans of Responsibility is no problem either, you can even get a new number for free. Umm... but I think the best way to ensure that would be for her to renew the contact and then transfer it to you, since otherwise you might not get offered the new phone dealy. |

| Bell sucks, I had them in Montreal just because I had corporate price... but I loved 10 times more Telus.
Canada should be like USA.. all US is local calling and you keep your phone number forever even if you change carriers

| The phone numbers here just got changed around like that... but it takes a while to implement them.. that's why you can get your home phone number as your new fido number now... it's not full on changed yet though. |
