so any advice?

I heard bell is good
rogers n fido r the same n they tend 2 fuk people over

telus shit reception..

and why is everyone scared to call my home number my brother doesn't live there anymore!

go to Cabine Telephonique in the Eaton Centre
They sell all carriers (minus Telus as of Jan 01 '06). They're the best place to get info. (Plus my bro works there :))
But seriously. They'll give you a plan that fits your needs.

Is anyone else who is with rogers getting a "no service" sign when they arent even in a basement or metro?
Ive been getting it for the past 3 days.. it even cuts my calls and says no service.. but im outside.. not somewhere where it would be difficult to get reception..
Im just curious if its my phone or the service.

It's prob ur phone katherine, still under warrenty? I can take it to Cellulab if u want?

I've never had a problem with Rogers. Rogers and Fido arent the same they are competaters no matter who owns what. They act as two seprate companies.

Rogers gets better recpetion then Fido because of the way the network is set up, Rogers has priorty over Fido network. So Rogers first.

Phone wise, the phone with the best reception and quality is the Razr. Rogers has some good plans but they dont advertise them you have to ask at the shop or what promotions are going on or if you know somone who works for Rogers to hook you up with a plan number

iunno for the moment thats all i can think of

HAVE FUN :D

*ahem*

All about Fido.

There`s no contract obligation on a monthly plan, but you`ll get a cheaper phone if you do sign a contract. Contracts are for 24 months, no exceptions, to break a contract is either 20$ x months left on plan or 200$, whichever is cheaper. Also, when you sign a contract with Fido, it doesn`t rope you into sticking with that plan, it just ropes you into staying a customer, you can change plans as often as there are months in the year. Fido and Rogers are on the SAME network.. absolutely no difference in coverage/reception/signal etc etc. Also, if you move, we offer you a free number change to your new LCA (local calling area), so if you wind up in Ottawa, you get an Ottawa number, no problem. Also, Jason, Razr`s are flashy crap, Motorola is a second rate telephone manufacturer. Nokia makes the sturdiest phones on the market right now, hands down. And we have a 30$ plan (plus system access fees) that`s 150 daytime minutes, unlimited evenings and weekends, and free fido-to-fido calling/texting anywhere in Canada... which rocks if you know lots of people with Fido.

And ufot, are you at the call center or a kiosk? And if you`re at the call centre, Quattro or Bonaventure?

im at bootique trash, I find the majority of the call center reps so deplorable, I get less then they and I do much more work and a way better job, and Im actually jolly on the phone, I think a lot of them really hate their jobs... anyways, ya, I work at the store on the crnr of mo-royal and st-urbain... its fun, I listen to the BBC all day and sell a lot of phones to drug dealers and crack heads... btw, I agree, the rzr is a piece of crap and nokia does make solid phones, but I hate brick phones, much prefer flips cause of no keypad lockage and ur head becomes less of an antenna because most flips have an external signal point... anyways, silly temp job for the time being, at least I get to have private dance parties with pete tong and annie nightengale and my co-workers are kool...

Ufot-not pimpin fo moneh

Heh.. yeah... Fido reps are pretty hit and miss I`ve noticed... there are some really good ones and some really bad ones.. but at any rate.. I`d still rank our reps higher then the Telus or Rogers guys.. fawk... dealing with transfers in from Rogers is like dealing with transfers from the 8th circle of hell (Malabolgia, reserved for pimps, panderers, hypocrites and thieves)

DONT GO WITH EITHER TELUS OR BELL, THIER PHONES DONT HAVE SIM CARDS AND YOU GET STUCK WITH THIER CRAP PHONES FOR THE LENGTH OF YOUR CONTRACT. ROGERS HAS BETTER PHONES, BUT FIDO WHICH IS NOW ONED BY ROGERS IS WAY CHEAPER, AND BOTH THOSE COMPANIES HAVE PHONES THAT WORK WITH SIM CARD TECHNOLOGY, SO YOU CAN ALWAYS GET A PHONE WITH THEM THEN STICK YOUR CARD IN WHATEVER UNLOCKED PHONE YOU WANT, WHICH IS COOL.

bell sucks, rogers cucks, and fido sucks.

i had fido, and it had the worst reception in the world. my brother has bell, and its way too expensive.

ive has telus for the past 3 or 4 years, never had a problem, they are always very friendly on the phone when you need something. i would say go with telus, their network just keeps getting better and better. they are even taking over bell phones in quebec city and also downtown montreal... that has to say something

if you want a really good phone... buy one that's not from here, ie not acvailable through any of the big service providers... My phone has a 2GB memory, a 2 megapixel camera, and takes video... it works fine with rogers network, but they don't offer it in north america.

in japan they have crazy phones with high speed internet, crazy games and tons more memory. the phones they sell here arelike 3 years old in japan...

it's so lame that most poeple get sucked into a contract and have t buy a 3 year old phone... the razr is okay but it's still very limited in camera rez and memory.

if you're on a budget you should go with a contract. if not... go to 972telecom and get yourself a real phone!

The G3 phones are fucking hot.. but there's no market for phones that expensive in north america because we're not that gadget oriented.

But yeah... Rogers and Fido SIM cards will work in ANY phone that is SIM card compatible... soooo.. if you got the cash and want a super slick fone.. for sure, buy one online.. they're totally complatible. (Except for the G3 features like video conferecing and stuff)
