becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I'll end up wasting
90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone's
laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little
bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I'm still the
only one who really, really gets it. |

| Funny, there's this kind of movie we all have. The ones you know by heart, that you've watched so many times over and over everytime you feel blue, need a mood lift, feel like laughing, or whatever reason. And then one day you realize that, while you can't get rid of it because of everything it means to you. All the times you watched it. But somehow, you can't get yourself to watch it anymore. Because you know it won't be special then. The magic is gone.
And then you find someone who's never seen it before and you call a movie night. Once again you're living the experience all over. But this time you're not watching the movie. You're watching the other's reactions to every line and every scene. And you're experiencing everything through their eyes again. You just want them to shut up and watch.
Meh, I guess the same can be said about any deep relationships after all. |
