WAHL SHOULD LOOK AT REAL HEALTH HAZARDS

I am responding to a letter Butte County Supervisor Larry Wahl wrote
in regards to preventing people in possession of marijuana
prescriptions from growing medical marijuana on their own land. His
position violates our property rights and impedes a person with a
prescription from growing marijuana plants on their own land.

If he is going to take that position that marijuana smells and it
offends people in the county area, then I would like to take the
position that almond, walnut and rice growers cease from spraying
known harmful chemicals (fungicides, herbicides and pesticides of
which there are many dangerous chemicals that the common public isn't
ever allowed to buy, but farmers are) that affect us all who live in
Durham and the surrounding county areas.

My husband Gary died only two short years ago from Lou Gehrig's
disease, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. My husband's
body, when tested, was riddled with agricultural chemicals and
metals. My personal loss does not take into account the endless
farmers in Butte County who have died from cancers and Lou Gehrig's
Disease that could be heavily linked to the agricultural chemical use
in Durham and Butte County.

American Cancer Society statistics name Butte County as one of the
areas with the highest rates of cancer in the state. Wahl should
revise his position and consider the health of this county and
seriously look at the high cancer rates here instead of concerning
himself with limiting rights of property owners.
