IMHO, I think its a bad idea.

Its for wannabe activitsts who can't stick to a cause. The day after, you'll be back at the same shops, buying the same stuff. The ones that are hurt are the smaller owned businesses, as Billy said. One day of very low sales means they might not be able to pay their employees if the budget is tight, or something along those lines.

If you want to stop corporate America, Canada, Russia, whatever; then boycott the companies that you don't agree with. Stop shopping at the Gap, don't buy cds from music companies raise prices with mp3 sharing as a scapegoat, ect.

You won't make the slightest dent just doing this with corporations. You will make the difference with the smaller places fighting to represent themselves in a money fueled society.

Think about it before you hop on a bandwagon which makes no sense.
