This is one of my favourites; Song/Lied by George Grosz

We contain all the passions
and all the vices
and all the suns and stars,
chasms and heights,
trees, animals, forests, streams.
This is what we are.
Our experience lies
in our veins,
in our nerves.
We stagger.
Burning
between grey blocks of houses.
On bridges of steel.
Light from a thousand tubes
flows around us,
and a thousand violet nights
etch sharp wrinkles
in our faces.

"Not Joe Blow who thinks he's dancing to disco or Buddy who wants to stab me because I glanced at his girlfriend.

Know what i'm saying?"

Hahaha I totally hear you on that,

Sort of O/T could someone please explain the fascination with taking your shirt off at events (day/night/indoor/outdoor). I mean I am not a prude but we as a society have agreed to go around clothed. I'd like to formally ask for those of you that do this to please spare me the sight of your sweety hairy back when I am coming down from LSD-25. Its unpleasant and unnecessary

Buy film online! You can get great deals on recently expired freezer-stored film in 5-packs on ebay all the time. Try cross processing some and you can get some really tripped out results. Remember to overexpose like two stops or so and pay someone who does not have their head up their ass to do the processing.

If you like black and white you can get fomapan for next to nothing, it has a very nice grain, I like it better than TRI-X anyways. Above all its cheap cheap cheap. Hmmm I am sure there are other eastern european and Chinese stocks which must be cheap as well. It may be worth looking into the availablity of Lucky (China) or Tamca/Svema (Russia) films.

As for processing if you find anyone who is competent and affordable let me know. Most labs I have delt with either have no clue/cant be bothered....ggrrrr

The one universal defining characteristic of every human culture across history has been that we have used substances to alter our psyche, except for the unfortunate Inuit, who were deprived of any psychotropic plants for obvious reasons. But even their shamans used auto-asphyxiation, starvation and frenetic dancing and singing to achieve states of transcendence. Why do men do drugs ? Why do we make art ? I think we wish to break from the narrow confines of our restricted and mortal selves and connect with something larger.

I am not saying taking drugs will make you see god, but they change you, they connect you with something outside yourself, or allow you to probe the depths of who you are - not your ego or who you front to be. Now doing drugs in a club or in the bathroom stall of your office to get through the day is not at all the same thing…but then again isn't it, don't we just want to be somewhere else, think something else, feel something else, be someone else. Or maybe we don’t want to thing feel or be anything at all.

Like its hard for me to talk about this because I am not addicted but definitely devoted to drugs, I can live without them…but I keep on coming back. Why ?

Why the hell not.
