bad djs get hired because unlike tradition music where a shitty band is much easier to recognise , being a dj , more specifically being a successfull has everything to do with hype. Almost every headliner is booked because of the buzz surrounding their productions which knidna shows the actual djing isn't important. Add to that the general unsoberness of most people and well , nobody will ever notice how bad a dj is .

But i do agree , having come from a smaller city in but fuck alberta , i am surprised by how shitty the djs are here . Of course i've only been to 2 events here one of them being terra but it almost seems like everyone that played was a budding bedroom dj.

If you are pissed off because bad djs are getting booked and you aren't , i would just spend less time on being a good dj and more time getting to know people and promoting yourself. AND FROM experience , don't trash shitty djs no matter how shitty they might be. Djing is alot like being a politician in that you really have to be everyone's friend if you want to get somewhere.
