they definetly do not have a legal responsibility to let people in, and they sure as hell don't have a time limit.

there's no law stating people must be let in within an hour or anything like that.

when you buy tickets, it's at your own risk. it's up to the promoter whether or not you get refunded.

the only thing a promoter is risking is there reputation, but it sounds like this isn't the first time people got fucked by this promoter, so obviously reputation doesn't mean much to some people.

i would rather put money towards a bet that they WILL do this again rather then ever pay for another party thrown by them..haha at least that way I have a higher chance of getting my money back!

it's the promoters responsibility not to over book the facility.

when a show sells out, they should not continue selling tickets at the door just so they can stuff as much money into their pockets as possible, that's fucking retarded and in my mind stealing (since they know they wont be able to honor other people's tickets).

the whole idea behind presale tickets, is the promoter needs cash to fund the party, so he gives out a discount to those who choose to help him/her out by paying in advance, these people expect to have their tickets honored at the door, if promoters abuse people's trust, they're not only fucking over the people who paid and didn't get in, but they're fucking over and other legitimate promoter who wants to get people to buy presale tickets for their parties, they're just making people not want to buy presale since they can't trust the promoters.

we reached that point a few years ago in montreal.
many events have been cancelled due to lack of presale purchases. many promoters stopped throwing parties for the same reason.

Well actually the contracts on the back of the ticket don't mean too much.

When you sell a product (toy, cleaning supply, ticket to an event) your product is expected to meet the standars that you advertised it to hold. If it does not meet those standars the company can be sued. There is no legitimate contract that states a company can dupe a client and not refund their money. The no refund contract on most of those tickets applies to the company that printed the tickets (i.e. ticketmaster or admissions) and not the promoter.

As far as letting you in within a reasonable time that is also a part of providing you with what you paid for.

This IS the law. I can garauntee you this.

For referance, you can look up info on the Canadiuan Consumer Protection Act.

And as far as overselling, the promoter should have only printed enough tickets that the venue could legally hold. In many cases the rule is the limit of people allowed is the maximum amount of people one room could hold.
