| the bikers generally have alot of influence on raves also, a couple of promoter groups are run by them (as far as I know), and I have seen bikers with their little crew of ecko wearing annoying speed dealers following them around and giving them wads of filthy bills.
Generally though the rave scene is less violent, probably mostly because (I hate to say this but it's true) there ussually isn't any hiphop. Hiphop attracts violent people. |

| i just e-mailed pulse asking them to stop saying "rave". at least i got my point across, now if they listen, that's a different story. |

| red lite is owned by bikers...my ex-boss was the first owner of red lite when in was more house music and stuff...he opened it! he sold it when the bikers wanted to be partners he refused and got into allot of trouble he even lived in this little contry toen for liek a year to get away from the scene he sold it completely to his partner at the time who now owns it with bikers and is getting him into allot of trouble....thierry(my ex-boss) is very happy to not own it any more....look at what all thats happening!!!! |

Coolness: 144330
| What was the motive for this shooting anyways? Pfff...now a days, everything's owned by the bikers. Hell, my cat is probobly owned by the bikers... |

| yeah one of the things I really hate about the whole techno/house scene is the innevitable corruption involved with clubs. |
|
Coolness: 144330
| Yah, well where there's drugs and money to be made, they seize the opportunity to do their best to involve themselves in some sort of way, and they like to intimidate people, which only makes them even more hated. They prey on the desperate/naive people that are willing to pay 35$ for a pill that is really shitty anyways. |

| Im not dreaming in colour Paul, I'm wide awake. If you want guns in your club, security is slack. There are a million and one ways to sneak drugs into a club, and there is an equal number for weapons.
Unfortunatly, gangs control our clubs and raves but that does not mean we have to suffer for it. This was a gang related shooting? Of whom? Innocent clubbers?
Ive been to afterhours. They arnt too far off from Red Lite. People I know have been to Red Lite. Had it been someone we knew who had been shot, would you be asking for a police crackdown on gang related violence and drug traficking within the club AND rave scene then? I would certainly hope so. Why do wounds have to touch home before you look to heal them. I personally would like to see metal detectors at clubs. I apprecaite being searched when I walk in and out of clubs and raves. I am happy to see fewer and fewer dealers at raves and in clubs because of the much advertised police presence.
Nobody needs a near death experience in order to take action against violence. They should care as a precaution.
If you would like to get in touch with AMP you could start by emailing the president at ira@dubinsky.ca
I'm sure he'd be happy to help you out and give you some tips on getting permits and dealing constructivly with the police as a would be promoteur. |

| A note to those misguided enough to think better searches somehow necessarily make things safer: the story in the Gazette explicitly states the shooting in this incident started when the suspects were about to be searched at the door. Even more security personnel wouldn't have helped here....reduced gang involvement is probably the only solution and that's probably a ways off. |

| Yeah, I just heard that on the news, too. They refused to get put through the metal detector and they ran in shooting. Lots of good that did.
Now if maybe the entrance doors worked on the principle like jails? Buletproof glass and a person on the other side is the only one who can let in. Let's see those idiots do that again. |

| a few clubs in toronto have metal detectors. when i first saw them i was like whoa this is weird but i guess for the better. if clubs were run like jails with bulletproof glass and such, it would totally defeat the atmosphere and fun of going to a club. i certainly would not like to be treated like a criminal when i'm just on my way out for a good time, even if to me clubs are not the place i find it. |

| Apperently the suspects involved are in the bo gard and crack down posse gangs (thats haitian gangs from st-michel/montreal north)
said in the gazette they began firing when they tried to run into the club and were stopped by security personal. So I don't think security would have helped here, it was violent gangs firing at the entrence (not the first time this has happened) |
