I like a combination of long hair and dreads, if it's done right, can be really beautiful! It works out best if your job and lifestyle don't require you to have industrial revolution hair (short hair for men). For a long time I thought about putting me hair into tiny tight long black and blue dreads, but I'm a bit obsessive compulsive about brushing my hair so I never went for it. It would be awesome for a week though. Lita I love your dreads, they bring out your face, and black is perfect on you though I guess dying it other colors is fine because you could always turn them black again. Mike please never cut them. dreadlocks are present in so many cultures or sub-culture.. so many different people have them.. personally i don't really like it. i always preferred the afro or braid style... dreadlocks kind of look like the fur balls that my cat is puking once in awhile. even if the person is clean and doesn't stink i still find it not appealing.. |

I was gonna say.. it's a pretty common style. having dreads doesn't mean that people are free-spirited renegades. For all I know they could be a total pompous shallow douchebag. I wouldn't make any assumptions that they are a positive spirit just cuz they wear their hair in dreads. they're under pressure to blend in with their tribe too. Why ? Most dark-skinned people I know have fuzzy hair which, when twisted, form a pretty much natural dread right there and that's pretty much it. Most light-skinned people I know have straight hair which, when twisted, form a twisted clump of straight hair which doesn't look anything remotely close to a dreadlock so you usually need to smother them with a lot of products to keep them together. And for some reason, it seems to only be the people with the straightest hair ever that end up with dreads. And quite frankly, it doesn't look anywhere near convincing what with all the wax and constant care required. |
