hehe.. well ya every review I read raved on about their incredible 3-year warranty butter smooth super durable faders.. so dude's comment didn't add up.. so I messaged the friend who owned the Rane TTM-56 that I tried, and he said:

As far as the 56 goes, which is what I had, they are pretty much indestructable. This is especially true of the faders so buddy is talking nonsense :)

^^^^ and this guy is a sick veteran dubstep / hiphop / jungle/Drum&Bass DJ, so, ya.. I believe him =) the other guy doesn't know what the hell he's talkin about

ya man. $2450.00 after tax was obviously a fuck of a lot, but that was what it went for brand new. when big DJs came to town to play, a lot of them had it in their contract that they have to play on a 600, so back in 2000 it was a very high-end mixer. so I got a lot of good use out of it. but now the one channel 4 fader is getting crackly when I move it up and down fast, and the headphone jack is crackly too.

but other than that, I must say it's still decent. never had to take it in for repairs or replace any faders. and it's been taken out to be used at countless parties and club nights over the years. I did my last mix in January on it without any complaints. not bad for a mixer that's gotten heavy use since summer 2000!

but.. the only problem with this Rane TTM-56... I'm so spoiled by years of having multiple channels. so hypothetically I could have 3 turntables and a CDJ Line-in all going simultaneously. or, 2 turntables, 2 Line-ins all at once..

but the Rane TTM56 is only 2 channels =( I need more than that for sure... *at least one more phono/line* so if I need to, I can mix in a third record or CD.

is there a way I can hook my Pioneer 600 up to the Rane, so I can have my 2 turntables on the Rane and other channels on the 600 coming in thru an auxillary or something? I once saw turntablists at a club, where they had a Pioneer DJM-600 and a Vestax scratch mixer hooked up together

It'd make for a somewhat complicated set-up, but you could run the output from the Rane mixer into a line-in on the Pioneer... it'd be doable, and could have some interesting results (ie: being able to easily fade up/down on both decks without changing their levels in the mix... while running something on cd on another channel)... you'd also be able to make use of the effects on the Pioneer, to alter what's coming out of the Rane mixer... although, because the channels are merged, you obviously wouldn't be able to isolate just one of the records playing without taking the other one out of the mix.
I'm feeling new records right now..

^^^ word. thanks Colin. I've also been offered one of these used, good condition - 350 bucks -

but I think I'm sold on the Rane. unless someone can suggest a 3 channel mixer that's of similar calibre to the Rane TTM56

I love the Xone32.. only thing that could be better is the curve of the crossfader, but other than that, it's a fucking dream!

hmm ok I'll consider that. what is wrong with curve? I use the crossfader an awful lot, so it's important for me

well the curve isn't great for scratching.. If you're just going to cut left/right quickly it's perfect, but you couldn't crab with it for shit.

it's a pretty fragile crossfader... knowing you liam, I'm pretty sure you'll go through it pretty fast! not that you're brutal with the crossfader but I know you tend to move that thing back and forth alot... errr... the crossfader I mean
I'm feeling forward every thurs right now..

lol. well ya I dont hit the fader too hard. some people I used to DJ with in Toronto.. snapped my friend's fader on his Pioneer 600 clean off. it went flying. the rest of our b2b session i had to use the little metal fragment that was left with my fingertip to cut hehe

so I've never done that. in all my years chop chopping I've never hurt any faders. we'll see. now I'm kinda interested in this Allen & Heath Zone 32 - having 3 channels is ideal.. are the upfaders and crossfader really fast and smooth like the Rane? would love to hear anybody's experiences with that model

Anyway if ever the fader broke you can replace it. That's the fun things about the xone! Mine , from my Xone 62 didn't broke in 3 years and i only mix with the crossfader. I'm not that brutal tho! haha
I'm feeling limouzine magazine right now..
