This actually happened in my home town.. I know the victim. I don't know what exactly happened but a lot of witnesses say she was on e and most likely took said "date rape" drug on her own.. Like I said.. don't really know what happened but chances are this girl was zombied the fuck out and these guys probably did not rape her, they probably pulled their dicks out and took pictures but WHO KNOWS. it wasn't a rave, it was a house party. also, the news report i said last night said something like "police suspect ghb may be involved, but no evidence has been presented that supports this" they then go on to say that GHB is a rave drug, it's very bad, and therefore, raves are bad. except, this was a house party, not a rave. I don't think there's anyone out there who doesn't care about the fact that a 16 year old was gang-raped. That is an injustice that is being dealt with by police, and soon by the courts - as will the dissemination of the video and photos of the night. That this happened at a "rave" - whether a big party or a "bush bash" or "house party" - is a potential injustice against the electronic music community in that yet another event this summer has been profiled with criminality. It's a separate issue and an important issue, and the discourse over that issue is not intended to detract from the fact of this girl's tragedy. I don't think there's anything anyone can really do for the girl or that situation that hasn't already been done. However, we ARE able to discuss security and safety at the events we attend - and how some promoters are reckless and uncaring about their patrons and the communities in which they host their events. Perhaps such a dialogue will lead to safer parties and better communication - and that in itself is worthy of care. |

| Coolness: 93505 | According to new reports, some of the girl's own friends are even saying dismissing the rape charges. They seem to suggest the sex was consensual and now the girl is saying "rape" so she doesn't appear slutty.
Also, there is still no confirmation of GHB or a date rape drug...and even less confirmation that if there was date rape drugs involved that the girl was drugged by somoene other than herself or that she was intoxicated to the point of being unable to give consent. IMO the "official police" story of this event sounds more and more suspect each day. |
