Then if you got a brand name, maybe you got 5 years or more for the warranty...

You can hope that your usb dirve died then return for warranty and get a model that will fix this.
I'm feeling to be determined right now..

Oh I'm not worried, hehe I lucked out with a bootable chipset. My friends didn't. heheh.

But 4G isn't really enough to hold a lot of the modern OS's (without going thru the pain of stripping out the useless stuff, etc).

I prob should look into a 64GB key and just make it my OS install key.

Does your USB3 key downgrade to USB2 when you plug into a 2.0 slot? how about 1.0? 1.1?
I'm feeling peaceful ^^ right now..

The Specifications of the USB 3.0 say's 100% compatible with the previous version.

BUT, a big point, some company will limit the specs to make those cheaper.

Some will be 3.0 and 2.0 or only 3.0

Better check the specifications of the key you wanna buy first.

Of course, I'm just curious if your exact key works ok downgrading. :)

Have you played with esata at all? Or wasn't an option for your needs?

I used eSata very often
The major problem came from some controlers (board, adaptor and HDD)
Many of them need to be plug before the boot to work's perfectly
